Dijak def. Tony D’Angelo
The Don of NXT Tony D’Angelo and Dijak delivered a brutal and hard-hitting affair in their matchup. The Superstars fought inside and outside the ring, with Dijak at one point tossing D’Angelo into Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, only for The Don to pop right up and hit a crushing spear. Dijak later managed to handcuff Lorenzo to the ring post, neutralizing him as a threat, but his High Justice chokeslam wasn’t enough for the win. Lorenzo wanted to sacrifice himself for D’Angelo, but The Don refused his efforts and took a big boot to the face that gave Dijak the win.
Gallus returns and wins Tag Team Gauntlet Match
Pretty Deadly attempted to run the gauntlet to earn a chance at the NXT Tag Team Championships and were met with little resistance at first, but the intensity picked up when Edris Enofé & Malik Blade hit the ring. The duo gave Elton Prince and Kit Wilson all they could handle, but a roll up gave Pretty Deadly the win.
When The New Day came out to announce Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen as the next team, cameras showed them laid out in the back. The assailants were shown to be the returning Gallus with them entering the matchup moments later. Mark Coffey and Wolfgang proceeded to decimate Pretty Deadly, laying in heavy strikes and crushing blows as they earned an emphatic victory to win the Gauntlet Match.
Bron Breakker def. Grayson Waller via count out – NXT Championship
The highly anticipated matchup between Bron Breakker and Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship turned into a knockdown, drag out fight between two high-level Superstars. The two men engaged in such a physical contest that Waller driving Breakker into the corner caused the middle turnbuckle to snap and for the ropes to be repaired. As the match progressed, Waller looked poised to hit a big move off the middle rope, but the ropes gave way once more and Waller spilled to the outside. The challenger couldn’t recover in time and was counted out, much to the confusion and chagrin of the champion.
Later in the night, Shawn Michaels revealed that the two Superstars would face off at Vengeance Day in a Steel Cage Match for the NXT Championship.
Charlie Dempsey def. Hank Walker
The brutality of Charlie Dempsey was on full display as the second generation star used his ground game and ruthlessness to systematically pick apart Hank Walker. The up and coming Walker mounted a comeback and even locked in an armbar, but Dempsey’s mat technician skills were too much as he countered it into his own submission and forced Walker to tap out.
Jinder Mahal def. Julius Creed
The Modern Day Maharaja returned to NXT earlier in the night and attacked The Creed Brothers, forcing Julius to try and earn redemption on behalf of his brother. The aggressive Creed was slowed down by the methodical blows of Mahal, but Creed was resolute in his demeanor. However, it wasn’t enough as the veteran Mahal countered a Shooting Star Press into a thrust kick and immediately into a Khallas.
Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne win No. 1 Contender 20-Woman Battle Royal
Chaos ensued right as the bell rang as Lyra Valkyria eliminated Cora Jade within seconds of the match starting. Each woman fought for their collective lives as slowly but surely the match whittled down to a select few. Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne of Toxic Attraction as well as Alba Fyre and Lyra Valkyria were the final four competitors.
After Valkyria eliminated Fyre, Jade appeared and her distraction allowed Toxic Attraction to eliminate her as well. With just Jayne & Dolin left in the match, the two women battled amongst each other to see who the No. 1 contender would be. The match came to an end when both women hit the floor at the same time, making them both the No. 1 contender and therefore making the NXT Women’s Championship bout at Vengeance Day a Triple Threat Match.
