NXT Championship Match was made on a special NXT 2.0 edition of “Miz TV”
The most must-see talk show in WWE history welcomed newly crowned NXT Champion Dolph Ziggler to a special Tuesday night edition of “Miz TV.” The Showoff and The A-Lister discussed Ziggler's shocking championship victory from last week's Triple Threat Match until LA Knight interrupted to goad Ziggler into defending his title in the main event.
Santos Escobar def. Cameron Grimes in Qualifying Match
The first spot in Carmelo Hayes' North American Championship Ladder Match at NXT Stand & Deliver has been claimed after Santos Escober defeated Cameron Grimes in a thrilling qualifying match.
With Hayes and Trick Williams watching from the announcer's table, "The Emperor" chopped down Grimes with a flurry of kicks and strikes, dropping him on the apron after a distraction from the rest of Legado del Fantasma.
After a quick back-and-forth, Grimes took his eyes off the prize, staring down Hayes as he set up for a Cave-In. Grimes’ momentary lapse allowed Escobar to catch Grimes by surprise and flatten him with a Phantom Driver for the pin.
A-Kid def. Kushida
NXT UK Superstar A-Kid made an incredible impression in his NXT 2.0 debut match against Kushida.
The two high-octane Superstars thrilled and delighted the NXT 2.0 crowd in attendance, reversing and countering multiple submission attempts. As action picked up, A-Kid caught Kushida with an enzuigiri and a pair of elbows before hitting a jaw-dropping backflip DDT off the ropes to roll up The Time Splitter for a debut victory.
Tiffany Stratton def. Sarray
Tiffany Stratton refused to wait to get her hands on Sarray, attacking The Warrior of the Sun before and ripping off her grandmother’s necklace before stepping into the arena.
Despite not being able to transform, Sarray caught Stratton with a quick kick, but as she went for her Sunray Dropkick, "Daddy's Little Rich Girl" rolled out of the way to send Sarray tumbling to the floor. Stratton finished the job, rolling Sarray back into the ring and landing her spinning splash in the corner for the 1-2-3.
Tony D’Angelo challenged Tommaso Ciampa
Still dejected over losing to Dolph Ziggler in the NXT Title Triple Threat Match, Tommaso Ciampa addressed the NXT Universe to talk about his future.
During Ciampa's heart-to-heart, Tony D'Angelo slid into the ring looking as if he was going to attack The Blackheart with a crowbar, but he instead stood face-to-face with Ciampa and laid out a challenge for NXT Stand & Deliver. Ciampa accepted the offer, and after the two Superstars shook hands, D'Angelo brought The Blackheart to his knees with a low blow and delivered a "Kiss of Death."
Indi Hartwell def. Persia Pirotta
A heated match was not enough to mend the divide between best friends Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta.
Pirotta took it to her tag team partner, dropping her face-first onto the turnbuckle before pancaking her with a splash in the corner while berating Hartwell. But Pirotta's taunts only seemed to fire up Hartwell, who flipped the script on her partner until Duke Hudson made his presence felt.
Hudson attempted to trip Hartwell, but she moved out of the way and right into the waiting arms of Pirotta, who hoisted her up for a sit-down facebuster. Pirotta, however, was stunned at the sight of Dexter Lumis crawling out from underneath the ring. Hartwell used the opportunity to roll up Pirotta for the surprise pinfall.
Following her victory, Hartwell celebrated with her husband, leading to her and Pirotta one-upping each other by making out with their respective beaus.
Dominik Mysterio def. Raul Mendoza
In a surprise appearance on NXT 2.0, the father-son duo of Rey & Dominik Mysterio took issue with Santos Escobar's claims of being "the greatest luchador in the business." The argument led to a showdown between the younger Mysterio and Legado del Fantasma's Raul Mendoza.
After stunning Mendoza with a splash off the ropes and a vicious right hand, Mysterio climbed to the top rope but was distracted when Elektra Lopez hopped onto the apron to help Mendoza.
Lopez was finally pulled down by Fallon Henley, who was backed up by Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen. When Escobar turned to walk away from the fray, Rey Mysterio drilled "The Emperor" with a swift right hand.
Stunned by the scene outside the ring, Mendoza took his eyes off Dominik Mysterio and was promptly sent into the ropes for a quick and devastating 619 and splash that gave Dominik the win.
The Creed Brothers were confronted by MSK and Imperium
Still on the hunt for whoever attacked them in the NXT Arena parking lot, The Creed Brothers challenged the mystery attacker to come out and face them, only to be confronted by MSK.
Wes Lee & Nash Carter persisted that they were not the ones responsible for the attack, but they insisted that The Creeds cost them the NXT Tag Team Titles with their attack in the middle of last week's match. While the two tag teams argued, NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium walked out to remind both teams that they were inferior and set up a showdown for NXT Stand & Deliver.
NXT Champion Dolph Ziggler def. LA Knight
In his first title defense as NXT Champion, Dolph Ziggler once again stole the show and squashed LA Knight's hopes of carrying the title into Stand & Deliver.
In his first meeting with The Showoff, Knight had Ziggler on his heels in the early moments with a neckbreaker and massive powerslam. Still feeling the effects of last week's Last Man Standing Match, Knight had a bullseye on his ribs that Ziggler attempted to exploit.
Fighting through the pain, Knight demolished the champion with another powerslam and a running elbow before lifting him up to the top rope for a massive superplex and near-fall. As Knight went for the BFT, Ziggler slipped out of his grasp and moved out of the way while Knight went charging full steam into the corner.
After Knight bounced off the turnbuckle, Ziggler leveled him with a Superkick right on the button and covered him for the win.
His celebration was cut short as Bron Breakker returned to the arena and made a beeline for Ziggler. Robert Roode attempted to get between the two Superstars and was promptly dropped by Breakker, who stared down The Showoff before stating that he would take back the NXT Title at Stand & Deliver.
