Edge challenged Randy Orton to a Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania

ORLANDO, Fla. — Personal problems require a personal solution. And for Edge, it’s become increasingly clear that there’s only one place for him to deal with Randy Orton: WrestleMania. And he has just the stipulation to mark the occasion.

Taking advantage of the sparse, intimate setting (to say nothing of the intimate nature of the rivalry), Edge stared directly into the camera and challenged The Viper to a Last Man Standing Match, appropriately enough for a history that has stretched for 20 years. And while Edge claimed that Orton doesn’t love him and is instead an “entitled brat” jealous of Edge’s talent and “grit,” he did offer Orton a twisted “thank you” of sorts for stopping Beth Phoenix from announcing what was going to be Edge’s second retirement two weeks ago.

Edge believes he and Orton are even and that after all the times The Ultimate Opportunist saved Orton from himself, The Apex Predator has returned the favor. And if Orton “has the guts,” Edge is ready to show him exactly who he’s saved.

The Undertaker and AJ Styles signed their WrestleMania contract

Last week, AJ Styles didn’t so much pull the curtain back on The Undertaker as tear it away and light it on fire as part of his attempt to destroy the mystique of the legendary Superstar. He found out on Raw, however, that The Deadman might not be the old, broken-down husband Styles painted him as.

True, The Phenom arrived to their planned contract signing without almost any of his usual trappings, arriving shirtless and in a bandana rather than his typical hat and duster. But he still employed some of his signature tricks to brutalize Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson when Styles sent them to deliver the contract. That Styles didn’t do the deed himself after yet another round of insults to Undertaker’s family speaks volumes about how he really feels about this “old man.” What happened to The O.C. proves he might be right to keep his distance.

Rey Mysterio def. United States Champion Andrade

Rey Mysterio vs. Andrade: Raw, March 16, 2020

United States Champion Andrade does battle with The Master of the 619. Catch WWE action on WWE Network, FOX, USA Network, Sony India and more.

Rey Mysterio’s comeback-slash-payback tour continues, this time with the win he might have wanted more than anything. In a near-empty setting at the WWE Performance Center, The Ultimate Underdog defeated Andrade to exact some retribution for his United States Title loss at Madison Square Garden several months ago.

Since the match was not for the championship, Andrade can count himself lucky that the only thing he lost was his pride. But Mysterio certainly took a bite out of that, thwarting Andrade’s version of the Three Amigos to connect with the 619-Droppin’ the Dime combo … much to the chagrin of Asuka, who provided guest commentary for the match and furiously cheered for the champion. Her enthusiasm was certainly palpable, but clearly, it’ll take more than an unusual cheering section for Andrade to move past Mysterio for good.

Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch addressed Shayna Baszler

Becky Lynch aims to prove Shayna Baszler’s life is a lie: Raw, March 16, 2020

Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch has harsh words for her WrestleMania opponent, Shayna Baszler. Catch WWE action on WWE Network, FOX, USA Network, Sony India and more.

It takes a lot to unman — so to speak — a competitor like Shayna Baszler, but Becky Lynch may have figured out the most efficient way to do it: Just be herself.

As The Man said during an in-ring address that got Baszler more riled up by the second behind the curtain, all Becky’s usual bravado (including driving a massive Optimus Prime truck to the arena) is being employed to make Shayna question the natural order of things before she finally flips her world upside-down at WrestleMania.

In this, more than anything, all Lynch’s tweets and interviews serve a different, more pointed purpose than usual. After all, if Baszler just ran through the entire division and can’t get in the head of the one woman she wants to beat the most, doesn’t that mean everything she has known is a lie? Becky seems to think so. And judging by Baszler’s clenched-fist reaction, The Queen of Spades might be starting to think that, too.

Kevin Owens challenged Seth Rollins to a WrestleMania match

KO accepts Rollins’ challenge and wants him at WrestleMania: Raw, March 16, 2020

Kevin Owens accepts Seth Rollins’ challenge and wants to face him at WrestleMania at the WWE Performance Center. Catch WWE action on WWE Network, FOX, USA Network, Sony India and more.

A couple of weeks ago, Seth Rollins challenged Kevin Owens to a one-on-one match, anytime, anyplace. And as it turns out, the announcement of WrestleMania’s venue change made KO’s answer very, very easy. He accepted Rollins’ challenge for The Grandest Stage of Them All not because of the prestige of the show, but the significance of the location.

For KO, the Performance Center is both his homefield and the crucible in which he was forged as a WWE Superstar, making lifelong memories and proving the doubters wrong, one after another. Rollins, it seems, had not been paying attention, as The Monday Night Messiah has recently doubted Owens’ credibility. For a building with so many memories made, then, it stands to reason that Owens makes one more at the expense of his most ardent nonbeliever.

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin celebrated #316Day with Becky Lynch

So, what is #316Day? Allow “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to educate you, with some unexpected help from two unexpected individuals.

The first guest in Austin’s #316Day proclamation was Byron Saxton, who made the unwise decision to rate Austin’s explanations of the day’s laws (or lack thereof) with Olympic-style scorecards. (Per Austin, four-letter words are allowed, beer is a substitute for coffee, and your boss works for you, among other #316Day rules.) Saxton obviously earned a Stunner from The Texas Rattlesnake, but the final beer bath was interrupted by a second surprise guest: Becky Lynch.

Toting a cooler that she presumably brought to the arena on her truck, The Man joined Austin in the ring for a celebratory #316Day toast, a passing of the torch from one rebel to another, and some Steveweisers while Austin dropped Saxton with a second Stunner. Ah, #316Day. A day, and a Raw, truly like none other.

“Stone Cold” on the feeling of no fans at Raw: WWE.com Exclusive, March 16, 2020

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin describes the unique feeling of performing at Raw without the WWE Universe in attendance and encourages everyone to hang in there.
