The Vanity Project def. Chazz Hall and Mini Vikingo | Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Quarterfinals
The NXT Tag Team Champions are headed to the Dusty Classic Semifinals as Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes took down the makeshift team of Evolve’s Chazz “Starboy” Hall and AAA’s Mini Vikingo.
Mini Vikingo’s athleticism was off the charts, and not only did it frustrate the champions, it allowed him and Hall to nearly steal the victory in the opening minutes.
A Sasuke Special from Starboy gave way to a 450 Splash from Mini Vikingo, but not even that was enough to advance.
A savvy move from Smokes allowed him to tag in and counter Starboy’s Shooting Star Press, enabling Vanity Project to execute Hit It And Quit It to win the match.
Tristan Angels def. Saquon Shugars
Tristan Angels picked up a major win in his young NXT career, albeit by some underhanded methods.
As Saquon Shugars dominated on the outside, Angels sent him crashing into the steel steps, and it clearly affected the rest of the match.
Every move Shugars made was noticeably slower after the injury, allowing Angels to plant him into the mat with a vicious jumping knee for the win.
Wren Sinclair officially named No. 1 Contender to NXT Women's Title in return
AAA Reina de Reinas Champion La Catalina def. Kali Armstrong
The AAA Reina de Reinas Championship remains with La Catalina after a stiff test from NXT’s Kali Armstrong.
The power advantage held by Armstrong was apparent, and her mean streak even reared its head as she began ripping up the floor to expose the concrete underneath.
That plan backfired majorly on Armstrong as the champion dumped the challenger on the exposed floor before hitting a Shining Wizard to retain her title.
Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno def. Fraxiom | Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Quarterfinals
Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno scored one of the biggest upsets in Dusty Cup history as they knocked off legendary NXT tag team Fraxiom in the quarterfinals.
Nathan Frazer and Axiom were showing out in usual fashion, using their speed to keep Dar and Romeo unsure of where the next attacks were coming from.
After an incredible back and forth, Dar and Moreno executed a perfect high-low on Axiom to earn the win, garnering a standing ovation from the NXT Universe in the process.
Tony D’Angelo def. Myles Borne to become No. 1 Contender to the NXT Championship
Tony D’Angelo punched his ticket to Halloween Havoc thanks to an unexpected assist from Tavion Heights.
The former NXT Champion was in control early, even hitting his signature Spear, but not even that was enough to defeat his opponent.
Borne finally put together a strong sequence, but he became distracted by the cameraman, allowing D’Angelo to hit Dead to Rights to become No. 1 Contender.
After the match, the cameraman revealed himself to be Tavion Heights, and he promptly smashed Borne through the announce table.
