SmackDown Five-Point Preview: Dec. 10, 2015
Putting pen to paper before WWE TLC
When was the last time a WWE contract signing went off without a hitch? We’re still scouring sports-entertainment’s archives for one such example, and we don’t expect to discover it tonight on SmackDown. Just three days before they battle for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens will meet face-to-face on Thursday’s hottest show to sign the contract for their highly anticipated title match.
There is no love lost between the titleholder and the No. 1 contender, as evidenced by their Raw encounter, which saw The Lunatic Fringe throw his popcorn and soda in the face of an irate KO. Tonight at 8/7 C on Syfy, see what chaos unfolds when two of WWE’s most volatile and unpredictable Superstars sign on the dotted line ahead of their WWE TLC championship collision.
Will Reigns make it to WWE TLC in one piece?
This Sunday at WWE TLC, Roman Reigns will face Sheamus in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but will he go into the epic showdown at 100 percent? Before The Big Dog attempts to gain retribution against The Celtic Warrior at WWE’s demolition derby, he must first get past United States Champion Alberto Del Rio on SmackDown.
WWE TLC: United States Champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger in a Chairs Match
This will be no easy task as The Essence of Excellence has proven to be one of WWE’s most dangerous competitors. In addition, the decorated Superstar showed off his vicious mean streak Monday night after attacking his WWE TLC opponent Jack Swagger with a chair before threatening to do the same to his one-time cohort Zeb Colter.
And even if Del Rio has trouble bringing down the Roman Empire on Thursday’s hottest show, you can be sure Sheamus 5:15 will be nearby along with the rest of the daunting League of Nations. Can Reigns rise above Del Rio? Will the WWE World Heavyweight Champion look for payback after being Speared through a table by Reigns on Raw? Will the escalating tensions between Reigns’ family and The League of Nations come to a head with WWE TLC just days away?
Can The Showoff show up Prince Pretty?
Ever since Tyler Breeze graced WWE with his gorgeous self, the “King of Cuteville” has been engaged in a heated conflict with Dolph Ziggler. Will we finally see some resolution to this red-hot rivalry when they battle one-on-one tonight on Thursday’s hottest show?
Watch Dolph Ziggler superkick Tyler Breeze on "UpUpDownDown"
While there is no telling what will happen during their match, you can be sure it will be a very competitive contest. The flashy Superstars have taken their grievances with one another to the digital space, trading barbs on social media and getting into a heated encounter Monday night during a WWE.com exclusive video. The Showoff even went to new lengths to extend their battle this week when he invaded a live stream of Xavier Woods’ hit YouTube channel “UpUpDownDown,” superkicking Prince Pretty out of nowhere! See what happens next between Ziggler and Breeze when they clash on SmackDown.
Can the power of positivity slow down The Lucha Dragons?
The New Day have used their power of positivity and power in numbers to run roughshod over the rest of the tag team division the last few months. But the spirited trio’s days may finally be numbered this Sunday at WWE TLC when they defend the WWE Tag Team Championship in a Triple Threat Ladder Match against The Usos and The Lucha Dragons. Before they face the toughest challenge of their WWE Tag Team Title reign, though, they must slow down the red-hot Sin Cara & Kalisto on SmackDown.
Watch: The New Day have no need for ladders
On Monday night, Kofi Kingston & Big E fell to their masked challengers before their other WWE TLC opponents ran off with Xavier Woods’ trusty trombone. Will the positive Superstars be able to bounce back and gain momentum heading into their WWE TLC title defense? Or will their high-flying foes leave them feeling sour?
Is Paige headed for a Lass Kicking?
There was a time not too long ago when Team PCB was in prime position to take over the Divas Revolution. That seems like a distant memory now with all three members of the once dominating Divas faction at odds. Charlotte and Paige are set to battle for the Divas Championship three days from now at WWE TLC amid a very heated and personal rivalry. Meanwhile, Becky Lynch’s alliance with the titleholder seems to be strained beyond repair as she tries to carve out her own path to the top of WWE’s crowded Divas division.
WWE TLC: Divas Champion Charlotte vs. Paige
For the Irish Lass Kicker, a victory tonight over The Diva of Tomorrow could go a long way in solidifying her as a future contender for the butterfly-emblazoned title, while her counterpart looks to make a statement before challenging for the Divas title this Sunday. Which of these former friends will walk out of Thursday’s hottest show victorious? And will the Divas Champion and her legendary father Ric Flair be in attendance following their heated encounter with Paige Monday night on “Miz TV”? See what Divas drama unfolds tonight on SmackDown.
