World Heavyweight Champion Big Show def. Sheamus (Chairs Match)

World Heavyweight Champion Big Show def. Sheamus (Chairs Match)

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — As part of WWE unleashing one of its most vicious pay-per-views, WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, into the brand-new Barclays Center, World Heavyweight Champion Big Show reigned supreme over Sheamus in an absolutely brutal Chairs Match — enlisting the help of a surprise, super-sized weapon. From the opening bell, the destructive conflict between the two forces of nature mirrored the highly-volatile rivalry that had built between them ever since they first clashed for the World Heavyweight Title at WWE Hell in a Cell.

Sheamus went after The World’s Largest Athlete early, incredibly getting Big Show off his feet before introducing the first chair into the bout. With the help of an athletic high backkick that caught his opponent off guard outside the ring, however, Big Show would be the first to drop his opponent to the floor with the dangerous steel implement.

Once the battle finally reentered the squared circle, Big Show took charge with a huge clothesline and headbutt combination. But even that devastation couldn’t stop Sheamus from regrouping and unleashing a massive chair assault — before using his unbelievable strength to slam Big Show to the canvas. He then leaped off the top rope, chair in hand, taking down the World Heavyweight Champion yet again.

But Sheamus would go to the well once too often. When he lunged off the top rope with the chair a second time, Big Show speared him into next week.

Big Show then executed his own chair onslaught, both inside and outside the ring. And even when he dropped the metal instrument, his giant offensive continued.

Sheamus would power his way back, igniting a fierce back-and-forth brawl between them. And while The Celtic Warrior looked to be getting the best of it for a moment, that success came to a crashing halt with the help of a wicked Big Show chokeslam and a near pinfall by the reigning World Champion.

Big Show began to throw numerous chairs into the ring. Then, placing one of them on Sheamus, the massive Superstar dropped onto him from the top rope. After that, Big Show proceeded to set up two chairs — looking to drop Sheamus on top of them. But Sheamus countered at the last second, hitting White Noise on Big Show on the chairs.

When Sheamus attempted to end it with the Brogue Kick, however, Big Show moved, catching Sheamus on the ropes before hitting him with the KO Punch. But miraculously, the Irish Superstar kicked out!

Big Show was not done, though. Moving outside the ring, Show revealed a gigantic chair from under the ring, hitting the war-torn Sheamus with it for the huge win.

The first match between Sheamus and Big Show at Hell in a Cell 2012 — which garnered the giant the World Heavyweight Championship — proved to be only the beginning of a volatile showdown that was so personal, it was destined to explode beyond the ring, time-and-time-again.

In the weeks to come, The World’s Largest Athlete would attack The Celtic Warrior and William Regal in a Birmingham pub while WWE toured the United Kingdom. Then on SmackDown, just two days before their rematch at Survivor Series, Sheamus engaged the giant in a massive brawl in the parking lot. And after Big Show got himself disqualified at Survivor Series to retain the World Heavyweight Title, the Irish Superstar unloaded on him with a chair outside the ring, hitting him 31 times with the unforgiving steel weapon.

The situation grew so uncontrollable that SmackDown General Manager Booker T forced the two Superstars to sign a No Contact Clause, forbidding them to lay a hand on each other before their Chairs Match at WWE TLC.

Big Show has forever put to rest his 45-second World Title reign of one year ago. And now that he’s bested Sheamus in one of the most devastating specialty matches in existence, will The Celtic Warrior dare return for more? Or will another Superstar undertake the huge, seemingly impossible task of defeating the angry giant. Find out as the squared circle rolls into “WWE Week.”
