WrestleMania 32 predictions
The Grandest Stage of Them All. The Showcase of the Immortals. The Show of Shows. By any name, WrestleMania is, simply put, WWE’s biggest event of the year. With this year’s edition almost upon us, it’s time to ask the most important question: Who’s going to win?
To find out the answers, WWE.com sought out an all-star panel of prognosticators, featuring three WWE Hall of Famers, all of whom carry serious WrestleMania bona fides:
- Shawn Michaels – The only Superstar to ever be anointed “Mr. WrestleMania,” HBK won his first WWE Championship on The Grandest Stage of Them All, at WrestleMania XII. Follow him on Twitter @ShawnMichaels.
- Mick Foley – The Hardcore Legend is the only New York Times best-selling author to have been Speared through a flaming table at WrestleMania. You can read his tweets @RealMickFoley.
- Edge –The Rated-R Superstar fought his final match ever at a WrestleMania, trumping Alberto Del Rio in 2011 to retain the World Heavyweight Title. Nowadays, when he’s not the former half of WWE Network’s original series, The Edge and Christian Show That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness, Edge can be found tweeting @EdgeRatedR.

United States Champion Kalisto vs. Ryback (Kickoff Match)
Shawn Michaels: Clearly, there’ve been countless undersized guys who have proved wrong Ryback’s theories about good small guys not standing a chance against good big guys. That said, I will go with Ryback. He’s somebody who keeps coming close to reaching his potential, but then something happens and he seems to fall short. Now might be his opportunity to reach that potential. The first step would be to win the U.S. Title. WINNER: Ryback
Mick Foley: There’s a certain point at which overwhelming force will topple grace and beauty, and I think that point is Ryback. There’s just too much to tackle there for Kalisto. WINNER: Ryback
Edge: Ryback wants to be fed more, but I think Kalisto will give him acid reflux. I'm calling the upset … Kalisto! WINNER: Kalisto
Ryback: 2, Kalisto: 1
Total Divas vs. B.A.D. & Blonde (Kickoff Match)
Shawn Michaels: Total Divas. I think they have more experience, not just wrestling-wise, but competing at WrestleMania. For the newcomers, just the enormity of WrestleMania is going to be enough for them to take on. Once the actual wrestling starts, they could be somewhat overwhelmed by it all. WINNERS: Total Divas
Mick Foley: I hope this match is a beautiful sendoff for Brie Bella, who deserves it. But just as importantly, it’s a way to stake a claim on the Divas Championship for 2016. I see Natalya, Alicia, Paige and even Eva Marie pulling out all the stops to try to create a lasting impression in this match. WINNERS: Total Divas
Edge: I predict Natalya will hold it down for Team Total Divas and help lead her cast-mates to victory Sunday. WINNERS: Total Divas
Total Divas: 3, B.A.D. & Blonde: 0
The Usos vs. The Dudley Boyz (Kickoff Match)
Shawn Michaels: I like The Usos and think they’re good kids, but it’s hard to go against The Dudleys. I don’t know that there’s a team, especially these days, that exemplifies tag team wrestling quite like The Dudley Boyz. They’re a throwback. For somebody like me, who looks fondly upon tag team scene and worry it’ll never be what it once was, The Dudleys are that glimmer of hope. WINNERS: Dudley Boyz
Mick Foley: I love having ECW Originals at WrestleMania, and I’m going to go with my heart: I think The Dudleys find a way to stop The Usos. WINNERS: The Dudley Boyz
Edge: I know firsthand what The Dudleys are capable of doing to their opponents at WrestleMania. I just can’t bet against them. WINNERS: The Dudley Boyz
The Dudley Boyz: 3, The Usos: 0
AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho
Shawn Michaels: Everything says you gotta go with Jericho. He’s got the experience, and I’ve had a number of great matches with Chris, so I know he’s a big-time performer. But I am going to go with AJ Styles. I’ve heard absolutely fantastic things about him. It’s like when I heard years ago that Daniel Bryan was finally coming in, or Kevin Owens was coming in. AJ Styles is one of those guys you get excited about. I’m picking him to win in an upset. WINNER: AJ Styles
Mick Foley: Styles vs. Jericho could set the pace for the entire WrestleMania, and it should. I see a classic match, and I see Styles further establishing his name with a win at the biggest event in the business. WINNER: AJ Styles
Edge: I know what Chris has had up his sleeves for past WrestleManias, but he's too focused on AJ’s popularity here. It’s getting in his head. AJ continues his momentum and takes his debut WrestleMania. Then look out, Intercontinental Champion. WINNER: AJ Styles
AJ Styles: 3, Chris Jericho: 0
The New Day vs. The League of Nations
Shawn Michaels: I think The League of Nations has a ton of talent — just pure strength and ability. But I’m going to go with The New Day as a long shot, because it’s WrestleMania and you’ve got to believe they’re going to harness all the energy from that massive audience at AT&T Stadium. WINNERS: New Day
Mick Foley: Look, a Foley family member just celebrated a birthday and did so with New Day balloons, not League of Nations balloons. The balloons tell the tale. New Day wins this one in grand style. WINNERS: New Day
Edge: The New Day has grown on me. The League of Nations grows on you, too, but more like a fungus. Trombones rule the day (because there are no kazoos around). WINNERS: New Day
The New Day: 3, The League of Nations: 0
Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn vs. Stardust vs. Zack Ryder vs. Sin Cara vs. The Miz (Ladder Match)
Shawn Michaels: I like Kevin Owens. He’s a kid from Canada who was one of the lone people in Montreal to cheer Shawn Michaels on an infamous night in 1997. He has never shied away from that. I might be biased, but he’s a personal favorite of mine, so even though he’s against insurmountable odds — in a Ladder Match, no less — Owens is my pick. WINNER: Kevin Owens
Mick Foley: In a one-on-one match-up, I don’t see anybody beating Owens at WrestleMania. I think he’s really close to being at the top of his game. When he gets to the top of his game, everyone has to watch out. But in this atmosphere, it’s a roll of the dice and honestly, it’s time for Zack Ryder to be lucky. I’m looking for Ryder in the feel-good sleeper hit of the season. WINNER: Zack Ryder
Edge: Seeing as I know a thing or two about Ladder Matches, my word should be taken as gospel. I’m banking on Sami Zayn to leave as the new champion. WINNER: Sami Zayn
Kevin Owens: 1, Zack Ryder: 1, Sami Zayn: 1
Divas Champion Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks (Triple Threat Match)
Shawn Michaels: Because Naitch is in her corner and I don’t think he’s going to allow his daughter to lose at WrestleMania, I’m going with Charlotte. He’ll pull out all the stops to make sure Charlotte walks out with the gold, because gold is clearly pretty darn important in that family. WINNER: Charlotte
Mick Foley: I really am a huge fan of these women, and watching Becky and Sasha is as close as I get to watching my own kids play soccer or basketball. It’ll be a nail-biter for sure, but I just have this image of The Boss with the championship held aloft in front of a sea of WWE fans in Dallas. WINNER: Sasha Banks
Edge: This is the second toughest match of the night to call. My gut says Becky. My mind says Sasha. Either way, someone walks out as the new champion. WINNER: n/a
Charlotte: 1, Sasha Banks: 1
The 3rd annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
Shawn Michaels: If he ends up being there, and that’s a big if, I’d go with Bray Wyatt. He’s very talented, and if he decides to join, you’d have to think a number of other Wyatt Family members would be close by to lend a hand. WINNER: Bray Wyatt
Mick Foley: I see a Social Outcast winning, then he’ll remind us about it until the end of time in one of those Miz moments, and maybe even carry the trophy with him. They may need all four members to carry the trophy everywhere, through airports. WINNER: A member of the Social Outcasts
Edge: It’s hard to make an informed prediction without knowing the entire Battle Royal lineup. To honor his contributions to The Edge and Christian Show That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness, let’s go … Funaki?! WINNER: Funaki
Bray Wyatt: 1, a Social Outcast: 1, Funaki: 1
The Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon (Hell in a Cell Match)
Shawn Michaels: The Undertaker. With the exception of once, the idea of beating The Undertaker at WrestleMania is unheard of. Against Shane, everything is to the advantage of The Undertaker. And, of course, with it being Hell in a Cell, it’s very, very tough to go against him in any way, shape or form. WINNER: The Undertaker
Mick Foley: I think I echo the sentiments of some of my fellow WWE Superstars when I say my heart says Shane and my head says The Undertaker. I just can’t imagine The Undertaker losing two out of three WrestleMania matches. I’d love to see Raw under the guidance of Shane McMahon, but I don’t see it happening. WINNER: The Undertaker
Edge: This match is the toughest to call. I know personally what The Deadman can do at ’Mania, which is to say, something no one else can do. Shane is a maniac, in a good way. For the sake of the industry, I want Shane to win. But he's rollin’ snake eyes. Never bet against The Undertaker. WINNER: The Undertaker
The Undertaker: 3, Shane McMahon: 0
Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar (No Holds Barred Street Fight)
Shawn Michaels: In just about anything, I think you give the advantage to Brock. My goodness, you unleash him and let him go in a Street Fight, and there’s a good chance somebody’s getting seriously hurt. I’ll go with Brock all day long, and twice on Sunday. WINNER: Brock Lesnar
Mick Foley: This is another case where your heart says one thing but your head says another. But in this case, I’m going with my heart and picking Dean Ambrose in a WrestleMania shocker for the ages. WINNER: Dean Ambrose
Edge: I like Ambrose. He’s a man after my own heart. I just don't think there's anyone right now who can take out Brock. But, it’s going to be one helluva fight. WINNER: Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar: 2, Dean Ambrose: 1
WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H vs. Roman Reigns
Shawn Michaels: It’s no secret that I’m going to go with my buddy, Triple H, because he’s my friend. But, even objectively speaking, he’s got all the experience. I think Roman’s a good kid with a bright future, but that’s why it’s called “the future” — it’s not going to happen right now. Triple H certainly knows how to handle a big-time moment and a big-time crowd. WINNER: Triple H
Mick Foley: While it’s truly hard to bet against The Game on The Grandest Stage of Them All, Roman Reigns is really a destructive force when he’s angry. And lately, he’s been really, really angry. WINNER: Roman Reigns
Edge: Triple H and The Authority have had their day. Let the future rule. WINNER: Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns: 2, Triple H: 1
