Randy Orton def. Rusev

Randy Orton def. Rusev

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — There’s a reason why they call it an “RKO out of nowhere.” And Rusev can tell you all about it.

One sudden RKO was all it took for Randy Orton to put down The Super Athlete at SummerSlam 2017 in a matter of seconds. Although Rusev was the first man to strike — waylaying Orton before the bell and brutalizing him at ringside — it was Orton who struck best inside the sold-out Barclays Center.

After surviving Rusev’s brutal pre-match attack, The Viper was granted a few moments to recuperate by the referee before the bout began in earnest. The Apex Predator took his time, and as soon as he told the official to call for the bell, he was ready.

Rusev rushed in to finish Orton off, but The Viper saw it coming. He sidestepped The Bulgarian Brute, sent him into the turnbuckle and then nailed him with a head-ringing RKO as soon as he turned around.

It was elementary from there, as the referee counted to three to wrap up a match that barely lasted 10 seconds.

A year after he was brutalized by Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, Randy Orton found retribution. As for Rusev? Rest assured he’ll be on the hunt for some retribution of his own.
