SummerSlam 1989
“Feel the heat” was an apropos tagline for SummerSlam’s return to pay-per-view in 1989. Calling the Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford, N.J., home, the second event saw Hulk Hogan enlist Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake for battle against Randy Savage & Zeus. For a second year, The Ultimate Warrior struck gold, defeating rival Rick Rude for the Intercontinental Title, and tag team artistry was on full display during The Brain Busters vs. The Hart Foundation. Plus, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, with stars-and-stripes face paint, teamed with Demolition against Andre the Giant & The Twin Towers.
