Heath Slater launches fundraiser to help West Virginia flood victims
One of the greatest Superstars to come from West Virginia has decided to give back to his home state in its time of dire need.
Heath Slater recently started a GoFundMe page to collect donations on behalf of those affected by recent flooding in West Virginia. He felt moved to act after seeing firsthand the aftermath of the recent storms in the Mountain State.
“I took it upon myself to go to West Virginia,” Slater told WWE.com. “I went up to Clay County. They got hit really hard, and I had the most shocking-slash-humbling experience up there.”
Slater hopes to raise $25,000 in donations over the next few weeks through his GoFundMe page. Afterward, he has pledged to donate all monies raised to charitable organizations working within the areas affected.
According to the Associated Press, the recent floods dealt significant damage to West Virginia following storms which swept through the area in late June. They destroyed 1,500 homes and damaged over 4,000 others, in addition to producing over $36 million in damage to local roads.
