Wolverhampton striker dons gifted Sin Cara mask during Emirates FA Cup semifinals

Just over a week ago, Sin Cara gifted a special-edition mask to his friend Raúl Jiménez, star striker for the Premier League’s Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. Well, the mask quickly made its presence known on the pitch during the Emirates FA Cup semifinals, when Jiménez scored an outstanding goal against Watford and donned the Sin Cara mask while celebrating with his team.

Sin Cara had sent the mask to Jiménez in honor of the Mexican footballer signing a full-time contract with the Wolves, and he posted the concept behind the facial wear – which sports the Wolverhampton colors and logos – on his Instagram:

Appreciative of The International Sensation’s gift, Jiménez extended his gratitude to his countryman on Twitter:

During Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup semifinals, the forward donned the mask after scoring his 16th goal of the season – a spectacular strike that some described as “ridiculous” – to give the Wolves a 2-0 advantage over Watford.

Watford pulled off its own superheroics, however, scoring two late goals to send the match into extra-time, then completing an unbelievable comeback that ended Wolverhampton’s cup run. Though certainly disappointed, Jiménez posted an image of himself wearing the mask and channeling the spirit of the masked Superstar's mantra, #TodosSomosSinCara ("We Are All Sin Cara"), less an 24 hours on his Instagram:

Judging from fans' reactions to Jiménez's eye-catching goal, we suspect the forward won't be the only Wanderer channeling Sin Cara in the future.
