Former WWE official Tim White escorts Andre the Giant trophy to WrestleMania 30

The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal trophy is escorted to the Mercedes Benz Superdome: April 6, 2014

Just hours before WrestleMania 30 begins, The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal trophy is escorted to the Mercedes Benz Superdome by armed guards.

Former referee Tim White shared the road with Andre the Giant for years. Before 30 Superstars brawl over the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Trophy at WrestleMania 30, Andre's close friend accompanied it from WrestleMania Axxess to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

"[Andre] is the greatest guy I've ever met," White said while gazing at the trophy. "I traveled the world with him. Tonight is WrestleMania 30 and I've been to every one, but this is going to be the finest one."

Two New Orleans police officers escorted White and WWE archivist Ben Brown to the trophy, which was housed inside a glass case in the 30 Years of WrestleMania Memorabilia exhibit at WrestleMania Axxess.

The officers then carried the 50-pound, 5-feet-tall prize onto a dolly and out of the New Orleans Morial Convention Center and into an armored car, which then traveled to the Superdome.

"Let's go to WrestleMania!" White said as the officers weaved between the Axxess crowd.

The trophy will be awarded to the winner of the 30-Superstar Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Sunday at WrestleMania 30. For those 30 competitors, it will be an opportunity to build a WrestleMania legacy much like WWE's first Hall of Famer did. For White, it will be a special moment to see his best friend honored on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

"I'm so happy and I'm so proud,” White said. “It's WrestleMania 30 and this is it."
