Personalized Money in the Bank briefcases

After Cody Rhodes destroyed Damien Sandow’s Money in the Bank briefcase by throwing it into the Gulf of Mexico, The Intellectual Savior of the Masses unveiled a new and improved  “Sandow-ized” replacement and declared himself the “Uncrowned World Heavyweight Champion” in the process.

However Sandow’s craftsmanship hardly marked the first time that a Mr. Money in the Bank has felt the need to personalize his briefcase.

And who can blame them? After all, from the instant it gets captured until the monumental moment it is cashed in, the sacred case would accompany its owner everywhere, making it an extension of the Superstar himself. Never mind the fact that inside the squared circle, ordinary is never a good thing.

Edge

After Edge overcame Mr. Kennedy on Raw to become Mr. Money in the Bank for the second time — the only Superstar to earn that moniker outside a free-for-all Ladder Match —redecoration was definitely in order. Indeed, his loudmouth predecessor had already personalized it with his own symbol and The Ultimate Opportunist was never one to be outdone.

On the very next SmackDown, Edge reemerged with a new and improved “Rated-R Superstar” briefcase. He celebrated its new look by cashing in on The Undertaker and capturing The World Heavyweight Championship, just like that.

RVD

When an extreme Superstar takes home the Money in the Bank contract, it only stands to reason that his briefcase will move to the extreme as well. And Mr. Monday Night would not disappoint.

Watch extreme SmackDown moments

With a sleek, new airbrushed designed to match his outrageous look — by far the most colorful of any “Money” briefcase before or since — there was no limit to how high the gravity-defying Superstar would soar. And on the wings of that confidence, RVD chose to forego the element of surprise, announcing his intentions ahead of time and ultimately defeating John Cena for the WWE Title.

CM Punk

No stranger to symbols that made a statement about who he was — including everything from tattoos to piercings to straight-edge “x’s” on his arms — it is no surprise that CM Punk would make his Money in the Bank briefcase into an instrument of self-expression.

With the altered Straight Edge briefcase firmly in place, Punk would use it to take the World Heavyweight Title from a Superstar who understood such an opportunity very well, Edge.

Dolph Ziggler

Perhaps surprisingly, The Showoff never painted his Money in the Bank briefcase or even slapped his symbol upon it. Instead, his own version of a redesign came from his active use of the implement as a weapon.

By the time he  cashed it in on Alberto Del Rio to win his second World Heavyweight Title, the mangled container had taken many a beating and was more than happy to be retired.
