Byron Saxton joins the SmackDown LIVE announce team, David Otunga moves to Raw
As part of the Superstar Shake-up, David Otunga will be moving from the SmackDown LIVE announce desk to Monday Night Raw, while Team Red’s Byron Saxton is heading to Team Blue. The change to both announce teams is effective immediately.
“Obviously we saw a lot of changes on Raw, and I guess I’m one of those changes,” Saxton told WWE.com moments after Raw concluded. “I’m gonna miss Michael [Cole], I’m gonna miss Corey [Graves] — well maybe not so much Corey — but you know what? I’m going to be positive about this. This is a great opportunity. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan always say SmackDown LIVE is the land of opportunity, I’m ready to seize it. I guess I’ll wear more blue now.”
Both Otunga and Saxton have thrived on their respective teams since the 2016 WWE Brand Extension Draft, but in the spirit of “shaking things up,” they’ll be calling the action from behind different announce desks for the foreseeable future.
With the Superstar Shake-up extending to the broadcast team, it’s clear now more than ever that anything can happen in WWE. The Superstar Shake-up continues tonight on SmackDown LIVE at 8/7 C on USA Network.
