Making it official
The WWE Championship Match at ECW One Night Stand will be made official
this Monday night on RAW when John Cena and Rob Van Dam ink their names to
the contract.
RVD originally earned his opportunity for the WWE Championship at
WrestleMania 22 when he outlasted Ric Flair, Matt Hardy, Lashley, Finlay
and Shelton Benjamin in a Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Mr. Monday Night
then held onto his opportunity tightly before finally deciding to cash it
in against John Cena at ECW One Night Stand.
According to the challenger, deciding to have One Night Stand be the site
of his WWE Championship Match was a calculated decision for him. Not only
will RVD be most comfortable in the ECW environment, but he’s also
confident that he will not get “screwed” out of his opportunity
if he’s competing on his home turf.
The road to One Night Stand for these two officially begins Monday on RAW
when they sign the contract. Then it's off to the pay-per-view to see if
RVD's calculations proved to be beneficial, or if John Cena can once again
overcome the odds and walk away with his WWE Championship.
