Arena Report - Save Mart Center
February 23, 2007
Located on the sunny campus of California State University-Fresno, the Save Mart Center first opened its doors to the public on Nov. 27, 2003. The state-of-the-art arena seats more than 16,000 fans and is the permanent home of the Fresno State Bulldogs basketball team, as well as the Fresno Falcons hockey team.
Although the arena is under four years old, it has already hosted an exciting WWE pay-per-view, Royal Rumble 2005. In that one historic event, then World Heavyweight Champion Triple H defeated Randy Orton, Edge defeated Shawn Michaels, and future World Heavyweight Champion Batista eliminated future WWE Champion John Cena.
Outside of sports-entertainment, the Save Mart Center has hosted concerts by Metallica, Fleetwood Mac, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones and other top acts.
