Stone Cold honored by Planet Hollywood

NEW YORK -- "Stone Cold" Steve Austin became a part of movie history today when he donated a prop from The Condemned to Planet Hollywood's Times Square location in New York City. Hundreds of cheering WWE fans were there to greet Stone Cold as he presented an explosive ankle bracelet on stage at the restaurant.

"I think it's cool I got to donate the ankle bracelet. They have a lot of cool stuff at Planet Hollywood… gadgets from movies," Stone Cold told WWE.com. "So from my first movie, The Condemned, to be able to contribute to a part of their history and be part of the things they have on display for people to look at, I think it's really, really cool."

Stone Cold's stop at Planet Hollywood was just one of a massive media tour he's been on recently to promote The Condemned, which hits theaters Friday. In addition to donating the ankle bracelet, Stone Cold met with eight lucky contest winners.

"It was good to meet the WWE fans who won the contest. It goes back to us trying to take care of our fans, because they always take care of us. I know better than anybody how important those fans are in sticking with you," Stone Cold said.

"It's always good to have a chance to meet the people, sit down and have a few conversations with them, sign some autographs and take pictures. You've got to give back, and that's what we're trying to do."

During his stop at Planet Hollywood, Stone Cold spoke with numerous reporters from Sports Illustrated's SI.com, radio station WPLJ and MTVNews.com, to name a few.

"I was just very excited to see all the WWE fans here, along with a lot of press and media. It's an exciting time," he said. "I'll do whatever it takes to get the word out there because I've got to take full responsibility behind pushing this film."

With less than 48 hours before The Condemned hits the big screen, an excited Stone Cold said he's eager for the big day.

"I feel ready. I am ready so I can go home and catch up on some sleep," he smiled. "I'm not nervous. I'm just looking forward to it."

Stone Cold said he's already watched The Condemned in seven movie theaters, beginning with the premiere at the Fox Theatre in Detroit during WrestleMania week earlier this month. Audience reaction has been spectacular, so he hopes box office numbers will be similar.

"I'll just sit back, wait and see," Stone Cold said. "I'll tell you what -- when Friday comes, I'll be at a bar, somewhere that night, probably at the hotel I'm staying at, and I'm going to make a toast to myself, WWE Films and first, and foremost, the WWE fans for allowing this to happen and hoping everybody enjoys the movie, because I'm so proud of it, and I just can't wait."

Tonight, Stone Cold will be on MSG, NY on the MSG network in the New York area at midnight ET. Then at 10:30, he'll guest star on MTV's Road Rules. Tomorrow, he'll be on MTV's The Big 10 at 9 ET. On Friday morning, he'll be a guest on the syndicated Live with Regis and Kelly. Stayed tuned to WWE.com for complete coverage of Stone Cold's media events leading up to the premiere of The Condemned on Friday.
