The Daily Telegraph (Australia) reported Wednesday that Academy Award-nominated actor Sylvester Stallone claimed to have suffered a broken neck while filming a fight scene with WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in his latest movie, The Expendables.
The Rocky star, who wrote and directed the film centering on a gang of mercenaries on their way to destroy a foreign dictator, revealed to FHM magazine that he needed emergency surgery and a metal plate inserted in his neck after the accident on set.
"Actually, my fight with 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin was so vicious that I ended up getting a hairline fracture in my neck," Stallone recalled. "I'm not joking. I haven't told anyone this, but I had to have a very serious operation afterwards. I now have a metal plate in my neck."
The Expendables, in theaters Aug. 20, features an all-star cast, including Austin, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li and Jason Statham.
