There were tons of games and events that went down at E3 last week, and this was the first year, and hopefully not the last, that I was lucky enough to attend. Here are the five coolest things I experienced during my time there.

Seeing the demo with Minecraft was one of the most incredible things I have ever seen in my life. It was amazing for a video game to take this form, but it’s even more impressive that this can be used in different scenarios. Upcoming doctors can use this to learn how to do surgeries, architects can use it to create floor plans and the world can essentially become “Minority Report.” Good things! The scary thing is that we are one step closer to Skynet and that’s never OK.

"Final Fantasy VII" Remake
The only reason that this isn’t higher is because it’s going to be years before it’s done and released. This is the game that we have been waiting for ever since the end of the last one. I have had dreams about Tifa that … never mind. Anyway if this game is anywhere near as good as its predecessor, then these new gamer kids are about to learn something about how an RPG is supposed to be made.

Interviews (Giant Bomb, Kinda Funny and Twitch)
I got the opportunity to sit down with some of the dudes from GiantBomb.com and they were amazing. Also, getting to let everyone know that Dan Ryckert is the hottest of garbage and he will no longer reign at #PAXamania made me feel pretty good. Then hanging with Greg Miller at Kinda Funny ended up being a blast, as we quickly became best friends. At the end of E3, I sat on a panel for Twitch. This was out of control because there were a ton of people and we were all just screaming about games and E3 in general. Overall, it was just really good to hang out with like-minded, chill, awesome people that dig games as much as I do.

"Battleborn"
This game comes from 2K and Gearbox. That’s the “Borderlands” crew. This game is similar to “Borderlands” in the way that it looks and that it’s a first-person shooter. But it’s also a MOBA, RPG, fantasy, comedy, suspense, etc. game. It will have 25 characters at launch and each one will suit someone’s playing style. Tanks, snipers and even quick DPS types equal a cast of characters for literally any kind of bada**.

Naoki Yoshida
The producer and director of quite possibly my favorite game: “Final Fantasy XIV.” I had no clue that I would have the chance to meet him, much less interview him. This is the man that turned “Final Fantasy XIV” into a huge success. When the game first dropped, there were a ton of things wrong with it that fans complained about and made them turn away from it. Yoshida was good enough to create a world that not only brought those fans back but brought new ones in, such as myself. This is the greatest MMO of all time, and having the opportunity to meet and speak with this humble and talented man was definitely the highlight of my E3 experience. So go out and get Heavensward (the expansion for FFXIV) and play to your heart’s content because Yoshida has put his heart and soul into this!
Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest at Square Enix | Goat Simulator Craziness and Ninja … Turdles?
What this experience taught me is that E3 is about way more than just playing the new games that are coming out. You get to meet new people, have new experiences and, if you’re lucky, make a few new friends as well. I can’t wait ’til next year to go back!
