The festivities kicked off from Nokia Place at L.A. Live as WWE Hall of Famers Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler explained the details of the highly anticipated “30 Years of WrestleMania” mode, which will allow players to take control of their heroes and recreate the greatest matches from the storied event. Ross emphasized the attention to detail in “WWE 2K14” that will help make this year’s edition truly become Showcase-worthy.

“We documented the great matches from the first 29 WrestleManias, all leading in to WrestleMania XXX down in New Orleans in April,” Ross said. “All the arenas from all the WrestleManias have been replicated as they were when those events took place.”

All of the WrestleMania reminiscing left Lawler and Ross discussing their personal favorite memories from the event. “The King” cited the “Icon vs. Icon” Match at WrestleMania X8 as an unbelievable experience, while Ross took the opportunity to clarify a misconception about his “Grandest” milestone.

“It wasn’t dressing in a toga,” Ross said. “Although, I was in awe of Yokozuna that night. I think maybe ‘Stone Cold’ [Steve Austin]’s title victory [at WrestleMania XIV] where the Austin era began was very much a landmark moment for me.”

The longtime WWE announcers then kicked off the roster reveal with the assistance of Damien Sandow, who immediately took exception to the less-than-welcoming reception he received from the energetic crowd in attendance. “The Intellectual Savior of the Masses” continued that confrontational attitude as the “WWE 2K14” roster was unveiled, culminating with Sandow directing his ire at one of the featured competitors — namely, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.

“[Flair] wears a robe dressed like a giant Christmas tree,” Sandow said to a chorus of “Woo!”s from the audience. In response, he promptly dismissed their calls as “some kind of mating call for birds.”

Unfortunately, Sandow lost his nerve upon the surprise appearance of The “Nature Boy” himself. Flair “styled and profiled” his way onto the stage at Axxess before reminding Sandow about what it takes “to be the man.”

The verbal altercation left Sandow departing in silence, but ultimately left the 16-time World Champion feeling grateful for being a part of the “WWE 2K14” roster reveal event.

“I love it,” Flair told WWE.com. “Every time I can spend some time with the guys, and work at this level with the employees of WWE and 2K, I love it. It’s awesome.”
