United States Champion Trick Williams def. Laredo Kid | Non-Title Match
United States Champion Trick Williams put on a show to kick off the Saturday Night’s Main Event Countdown, defeating AAA’s Laredo Kid in emphatic fashion.
The champion was stunned early as he appeared to underestimate the veteran luchador as Laredo Kid used his incredible athleticism to keep the champion off-balance.
The power advantage belonged to Williams in a major way as he overwhelmed the challenger. The deceptively nimble Laredo Kid went for broke and hit a huge diving splash over the turnbuckle to the outside, but Williams wouldn’t let it keep him down.
Williams lined up Laredo Kid with one brutal Trick Shot to win the bout, all as the entire WWE Universe serenaded him with “Whoop That Trick!” chants.
Fatal Influence def. Paige & Brie Bella to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid captured gold on behalf of Fatal Influence by defeating Paige and Brie Bella for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
The challengers were aggressive and abrasive early on, mocking the champions to go along with their vicious mentality.
After falling victim to a bevy of punishment, Paige finally managed to tag in her WWE Hall of Fame partner who swiftly cleaned house, punctuating it with her signature Yes Kicks on Henley.
Jacy Jayne hopped onto the apron to help her Fatal Influence teammates, but she ate a stiff forearm from Paige for attempting to interfere.
After Bella took out Henley, Paige seemingly had the match won with a roll up, but Jayne reappeared and shoved the champion, allowing Reid to score the winning fall.
Danhausen def. JD McDonagh | No Disqualification Match
Danhausen vanquished JD McDonagh in an incredible No Disqualification Match thanks to a major assist from one of New York’s favorite citizens.
Dominik Mysterio’s antics at ringside with Danhausen’s gifted New York Knicks jersey allowed McDonagh to obtain early momentum as The Judgment Day beat him over the announce table.
Danhausen managed to get ahold of his Knicks jersey and putting it on gave him a serious boost as he promptly suplexed Dirty Dom, and even countered a McDonagh brainbuster into a Stunner.
The Judgement Day didn’t allow that advantage to last as they used their numbers advantage to not only beat down Danhausen, but embarrass him by ripping his jersey.
When all hope seemed lost, the Minihausens appeared and swarmed Mysterio and McDonagh, all while Danhausen put his stuffed cat into the cloning machine.
Just as The Judgment Day attempted to put a Minihausen through a table, New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns exited the Cloning Machine, giving Danhausen a major boost by chokeslamming McDonagh and planting Mysterio through a table.
Danhausen then hit McDonagh with a match-winning Triple D which kicked off an epic celebration with the Minihausens and the newly minted KAThausen.
Lyra Valkyria def. Bayley
The new-look Lyra Valkyria was victorious against her former friend and teammate Bayley, but that was only the beginning of the shocking events that transpired at Saturday Night's Main Event.
A devastating elbow from Bayley landed directly on Valkyria’s nose, causing a brutal, bloody injury.
Bayley continued the assault, but Valkyria turned the tables and used her injury as fuel, screaming at her former teammate while she stomped on her.
Valkyria hit a big middle rope leg drop, but Bayley withstood it and managed to lock in a crossface, wrenching on her opponent’s injured face.
Bayley went for a Bayley to Belly, but Valkyria countered it into a modified Bulldog submission attempt that put her opponent to sleep.
After the match, Valkyria viciously slammed Bayley into the steel post and locked in the submission again before slamming her on the steel steps.
Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk & Cody Rhodes def. Gunther & Sami Zayn
SummerSlam opponents Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk and Cody Rhodes joined forces to take down Gunther and Sami Zayn, receiving some unlikely help in the process.
Punk immediately brought the fire to Zayn while Gunther went after Rhodes, leading to a chaotic opening moment that saw the Undisputed WWE Champion get dumped into the timekeeper’s area.
The American Nightmare tagged into the match and showed out, dropping Zayn with a Bionic Elbow and Gunther with a Cody Cutter before launching himself onto a helpless Zayn on the outside.
Punk picked up where his partner left off, but the match quickly became chaotic again as Zayn hit him with a Helluva Kick, Rhodes nailed Zayn with a Cross Rhodes, and Punk mustered up enough strength to hit Gunther with a GTS.
The Ring General powered up in unbelievable fashion and locked the champion into a Sleeper, but Rhodes tagged in and hit Cross Rhodes. However, Zayn jumped into the ring and broke up the pinfall.
Gunther seemingly had the match won, but SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis appeared from under the ring and pulled the referee out of the ring.
Aldis proceeded to crack Gunther with the Undisputed WWE Title, allowing Punk to hit another GTS and for Rhodes to pin him.
Roman Reigns and Jalen Brunson shut down Seth Rollins and Tyrese Haliburton
