WWE.com and Pat McAfee Show contributor Mark Kaboly gives his predictions for WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event live from Salt Lake City on Saturday at 7e/4p on Peacock in the United States and YouTube internationally.
Jey Uso vs. CM Punk (World Heavyweight Championship Match)
I don't believe there is any way there is going to be a clean winner in a match to determine who will take ownership of the vacant World Heavyweight Title. There are just way too many fingers in the pie for shenanigans not to ensue over the gold Seth Rollins was stripped of due to injury. There's no way Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker and Paul Heyman voluntarily surrendered the title back to Raw General Manager Adam Pearce without thoughts of working their way into the equation in a match to determine that title's fate. LA Knight clearly feels slighted, and Jimmy Uso may as well. Honestly, you can’t even count out Becky Lynch getting involved, and thus, AJ Lee could make an appearance in her husband's defense. What about Brock Lesnar? Could he shock all and emerge as the new leader of The Vision? The possibilities are endless. Though Punk winning the World Heavyweight Championship seems like the most likely outcome, I’m going to think outside the box on this one and bank on inevitable chaos.
Prediction: No-contest
Interference by The Vision will create carnage, and the World Heavyweight Title will remain vacant.
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre has a legitimate complaint about the last time he challenged Cody Rhodes at WWE Wrestlepalooza. It can't be disputed that the official stepped in the path of his Claymore and created enough hesitation for McIntyre to miss his devastating boot and provided Rhodes with the opportunity emerge victorious. Nevertheless, I could see something happening like that again. Cody losing this match would be a stunning development that I can’t wrap my head around, so I won’t.
Prediction: Cody Rhodes def. Drew McIntyre
WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill
Cargill's surprise attack on Stratton was done to perfection and created a great deal of buzz around the WWE Women’s Championship. Stratton has held the gold for 10 months and has triumphed in some really great matches, but all good things must come to an end. You can see why Cargill has apparently switched to the dark side. Without question, I'm picking Tiffy Time to run out after almost 300 days.
Prediction: Jade Cargill def. Tiffany Stratton
Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. Penta vs. Rusev (Triple Threat Match)
Surely excited over a a PLE in his hometown of San Diego in less than a month, Dominik Mysterio likely won't allow himself to lose the Intercontinental Title Saturday. In addition, a Triple Threat Match usually brings outside shenanigans. Plus, and maybe this is the most important factor of all, they call the titleholder "Dirty" Dom for a reason. The question for me isn’t whether Mysterio gets help or does something unethical to retain. It’s more of the how much of these antics will take place. A Liv Morgan appearance would be great, but it may be too soon for that. Watch for Los Americanos to enter the fray. And never rule out The Judgment Day tipping the scales in Dom's favor, despite recent turmoil inside the clubhouse.
