Pittsburgh Penguins invite Shawn Michaels to the NHL Playoffs

The NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins have a great chance to make it to the Stanley Cup Finals, thanks in part to what fans have dubbed the "HBK line." Consisting of Carl Hagelin, Nick Bonino and Phil Kessel, whenever the "HBK line" scores, the Penguins' Twitter is flooded with .gifs and images of WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, HBK.

The social media response to the trio is exactly what caught the attention of Michaels and he began actively cheering on the Penguins and interacting with fans during games.

During Game 3 of the conference finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Penguins invited HBK to Game 5 in Pittsburgh.

Giving serious thought to attending, Michaels was also encouraged by retired Pittsburgh Steelers player Brett Keisel to join the Penguins-faithful.

Michaels headed to Consol Energy Center for Game 5, wearing a custom jersey — the number 156 refers to the sum of Hagelin, Bonino and Kessel's numbers.

Even though the Penguins fell short, Michaels enjoyed his visit to Pittsburgh, which included meeting legendary Penguin and current principal owner Mario Lemieux.
