General Rules for WWE Social Media Contests and Sweepstakes

PLEASE NOTE THAT RULES MAY VARY FOR SPECIFIC CONTESTS.
Any individual who enters, attempts to enter or in any way participates or attempts to participate in any contest, sweepstakes or giveaways (each, a “Contest”) conducted by World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as the “Sponsor”) (each such individual is hereinafter referred to as an “Entrant”) agrees to be bound by the terms and conditions provided in these General Rules for WWE Social Media Contests and Sweepstakes (these “General Rules”), as well as by Sponsor’s interpretations of these General Rules which are final and binding in all matters relating to any Contest.
Some Contests will have specific rules developed for them (“Specific Contest Rules”). In the event there is a discrepancy or inconsistency between these General Rules and the Specific Contest Rules, the Specific Contest Rules shall control.
Sponsor’s social media contests will be announced through one of Sponsor’s Official Social Media Accounts (each, an “Official Account”), including @WWE, @UpUpDwnDwn, @WWETheBump on one or more of Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or YouTube (each, a “Platform”).
- NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.
No purchase is necessary to enter or win a prize. A purchase will also not improve your chances of winning.
Contests are open only to legal residents of the fifty United States and Washington D.C. (excluding Puerto Rico, Guam and other U.S. territories), who are eighteen (18) years of age or older (except in the case of legal residents of certain states where the legal age of majority is greater than eighteen (18) years of age, such legal age of majority) when they enter the Contest.
If Specific Contest Rules provide for an earlier age of entry, then Entrants under the age of majority in his/her state of residence must have permission from their parent or legal guardian in order to enter. A Prize won by a minor in his or her legal jurisdiction of residency will be awarded in the name of said minor’s parent or legal guardian.
Employees, officers and directors of Sponsor (including Sponsor performing talent) and its subsidiaries, affiliates (i.e., entities controlling, controlled by or under common control with Sponsor), prize providers and similar promotional partners, promotion and advertising agencies and anyone involved in the development or execution of the Contest, and the immediate family members (meaning spouses, parents, siblings, children and their respective spouses) and members of the households of such employees, officers and directors are not eligible. By taking part in a Contest participant agrees to be bound by these General Rules. Sponsor reserves the right to permanently disqualify from a Contest any person it believes has violated these Rules. Contests subject to all federal, state and local laws. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
An individual may win a prize from Sponsor only once (1) every fifteen (15) days. Only one (1) winner per household is permitted in any Contest. “Household members” shall mean people who share the same residence at least three (3) months a year. The same individual may not win tickets to the same event more than once.
Unless otherwise specified in Specific Contest Rules, for prizes that are tickets to an event, eligibility is limited to Entrants physically residing within one hundred fifty (150) miles of the event venue.
3. HOW TO ENTER.
Contest entries may be submitted solely as advertised or otherwise prescribed by Sponsor for the Contest on an Official Account.
Generally, these will involve one or both of the following: (1) online entry or (2) social media entry. For social media entries, entries may only be submitted on the Platform(s) prescribed by the applicable Official Account(s).
Unless otherwise provided, there is a limit of one (1) entry per method of entry per person per day for each Contest during the time period set forth by the applicable Official Account (the “Entry Period”). If more than one (1) entry per method of entry per day is received from the same person, e-mail address or Platform account, such entries, at the Sponsor’s sole discretion, may be disqualified. Entrants are prohibited from using more than one (1) e-mail address, account on any one Platform or multiple identities. If it is found or suspected that an Entrant is using more than one e-mail address or multiple accounts to participate in a Contest, then that Entrant, in Sponsor’s sole discretion, may not be eligible to win a prize.
During the applicable Entry Period, Entrant may visit the applicable website link provided by Sponsor and complete and submit the registration form as directed. If a Contest accepts web entries, Entrant must accurately complete all required fields or the entry will be deemed incomplete and will not qualify. Upon successful submission of the registration information, an Entrant will receive one (1) entry into the Contest.
Social Media Entry:
To enter any Contest via Twitter, follow the instructions provided by Sponsor’s applicable Official Twitter Account in the manner and during the Entry Period set forth by the applicable Official Twitter Account to receive one (1) entry in the applicable Contest.
To enter any Contest via Twitter, you must have a valid, public (i.e., not “private” or "protected") Twitter account and follow the applicable Sponsor’s Official Twitter Account. If you do not have a Twitter account, visit twitter.com and register in accordance with the registration instructions for a free Twitter account. Data and usage rates may apply to the download and use of the Twitter application.
Failure to follow any instructions provided by the Official Twitter Account or to submit your entry within the applicable Entry Period or in compliance with the Submission Guidelines or otherwise with these General Rules may result in disqualification. The time of receipt of any valid Twitter entry shall be the time such valid entry becomes available to Sponsor on twitter.com. Sponsor's computer shall be the official clock of each Contest.
To enter any Contest via Instagram, follow the instructions provided by Sponsor’s applicable Official Instagram Account in the manner and during the Entry Period set forth by the applicable Official Instagram Account to receive one (1) entry in the applicable Contest.
To enter any Contest via Instagram, you must have a valid, public (i.e., not “private” or "protected") Instagram account and follow the applicable Sponsor’s Official Instagram Account. If you do not have an Instagram account, visit instagram.com and register in accordance with the registration instructions for a free Instagram account. Data and usage rates may apply to the download and use of the Instagram application.
Failure to follow any instructions provided by the Official Instagram Account or to submit your entry within the applicable Entry Period or in compliance with the Submission Guidelines or otherwise with these General Rules may result in disqualification. The time of receipt of any valid Instagram entry shall be the time such valid entry becomes available to Sponsor on Instagram.com. Sponsor's computer shall be the official clock of each Contest.
To enter any Contest via Facebook, follow the instructions provided by Sponsor’s applicable Official Facebook Account in the manner and during the Entry Period set forth by the applicable Official Facebook Account to receive one (1) entry in the applicable Contest.
To enter any Contest via Facebook, you must have a valid, public (i.e., not “private” or "protected") Facebook account and follow the applicable Sponsor’s Official Facebook Account. If you do not have a Facebook account, visit Facebook.com and register in accordance with the registration instructions for a free Facebook account. Data and usage rates may apply to the download and use of the Facebook application.
Failure to follow any instructions provided by the Official Facebook Account or to submit your entry within the applicable Entry Period or in compliance with the Submission Guidelines or otherwise with these General Rules may result in disqualification. The time of receipt of any valid Facebook entry shall be the time such valid entry becomes available to Sponsor on Facebook.com. Sponsor's computer shall be the official clock of each Contest.
To enter any Contest via YouTube, follow the instructions provided by Sponsor’s applicable Official YouTube Account in the manner and during the Entry Period set forth by the applicable Official YouTube Account to receive one (1) entry in the applicable Contest.
To enter any Contest via YouTube, you must have a valid, public (i.e., not “private” or "protected") YouTube account and follow the applicable Sponsor’s Official YouTube Account. If you do not have a YouTube account, visit YouTube.com and register in accordance with the registration instructions for a free YouTube account. Data and usage rates may apply to the download and use of the YouTube application.
Failure to follow any instructions provided by the Official YouTube Account or to submit your entry within the applicable Entry Period or in compliance with the Submission Guidelines or otherwise with these General Rules may result in disqualification. The time of receipt of any valid YouTube entry shall be the time such valid entry becomes available to Sponsor on YouTube.com. Sponsor's computer shall be the official clock of each Contest.
Certain Contests may require posting of one or more hashtags, the tagging of one or more accounts and/or the posting of certain content. As used herein, “Content” includes and refers to all information, content, and material submitted by you in connection with a Contest (including, but not limited to, your submission). Any Content that you provide in addition to any required Content (“Additional Content”), even if encouraged, is provided voluntarily by you. Such Additional Content included in an entry will not be judged or used in any way to determine a winner.
Any Content you submit as part of your entry, whether required or not for Entry, must comply with the submission guidelines immediately below (the “Submission Guidelines”). Any Entrant that in Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion, violates these General Rules or the Submission Guidelines below will be disqualified and/or will not be eligible to win a prize.
- Entry must be an original work;
- Entry must be in English (except for commonly understood foreign words);
- Entry cannot have been published previously by any party other than the Entrant;
- Entry must be suitable for publication (i.e., may not be obscene or indecent);
- Entry cannot contain trademarks, logos or trade dress owned by any third party, or advertise or promote any brand or product of any kind, other than the Sponsor’s or a third party’s mark solely as specifically directed by Sponsor;
- Entry cannot contain copyrighted materials owned by others (including photographs, sculptures, paintings and other works of art or images);
- Entry cannot include the name, likeness, photograph, or other indicia identifying any person, living or dead, without written permission from that person;
- Entry cannot be sexually explicit or suggestive, violent or derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group or otherwise derogatory;
- Entry cannot promote alcohol abuse, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing), any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous, or any particular political agenda or message;
- Entry cannot describe or depict any illegal activity or violation of any state or federal law;
- Entry must not include any personally identifiable information (full name, e-mail address, telephone number, etc.);
Entry must not contain, facilitate, reference or use material that contains prohibited content which shall include, but is not limited to, Content that promotes, suggests, or encourages:
- gambling, including, without limitation, any Content related to online casinos, sports books, bingo or poker;
- the use of prostitution, pornography, nudity, profanity or other adult content, or violence;
- the taking up of arms against any person, government or entity or otherwise challenge or seek to overthrow any government; and
- Entry must not contain any viruses, spyware, malware, or other malicious components that are designed to harm the functionality of a computer in any way.
If any Entry fails to comply with any of the Submission Guidelines or any other provisions of these Official Rules, at the Sponsor’s sole discretion, Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify the Entrant. Further, Entrant specifically agrees to release the applicable social media platform (i.e., Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube) from any and all liability associated with the Contest.
Sponsor reserves the right to waive the Contest Content requirements set forth herein in its reasonable discretion. Sponsor reserves the right, in its reasonable discretion, during or upon completion of the Entry Period, to request that any Entrant resubmit his or her Content which fails to comply with the Submission Guidelines prior to any judging period.
Content posted to any social media website was not created by or edited by Sponsor and is the content/views of the individual Entrant and does not reflect the views of Sponsor.
- WINNER SELECTION.
Prize winners will be selected per the criteria announced for the Contest. If the Contest requires Entrant to answer trivia, provide information, create Content or otherwise perform in some manner to participate and qualify to win, the decisions of Sponsor and/or the other judges will be final as to all matters including the accuracy and/or completeness of the answer, as well as the quality of the information or other performance. If a potential prize winner is unable to be notified for any reason for any amount of time, the applicable prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner.
The potential winner(s) will be contacted by direct message on the Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or YouTube account or email, as applicable based on winning entry, within approximately one (1) business day after being selected. Unless otherwise provided by the Official Account, potential winners will be required to claim his or her prize within two (2) business days of the time the winner notification is sent. To claim the prize, the potential winners must respond as directed in the message sent to potential winner.
Generally, notification is deemed to have occurred immediately upon email, direct message on the applicable platform or any other method of notification as specified in the specific Contest. The Sponsor is not responsible for any change of email address or applicable account. Sponsor is not responsible for and shall not be liable for late, misdirected or unsuccessful efforts to notify a potential winner or, if the finalist or potential winner is a minor, for late, misdirected, or unsuccessful efforts of the Entrant to provide signed parental or guardian consent. If the potential winner does not claim the prize within the appropriate time given upon, the Entrant will automatically be disqualified, and their prize will be forfeited.
Potential winners may be required to provide additional information to confirm identity and eligibility and also may be required to complete and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Release and, where legal, a Publicity Release, and any other documentation that Sponsor may require and to see to it that Sponsor is in receipt of such information and documents within two (2) business days of being requested to provide the same unless otherwise provided by the Official Account. In all cases, Sponsor reserves the right to request proof of identity, residency and age, and the winner will be deemed to have forfeited the prize if Sponsor, in its sole discretion, finds that the proof is unsatisfactory. The prize will be forfeited (i) if potential winner does not timely provide the requisite information, return the requisite documents or cannot be reached within two (2) business day from initial notification attempt (or such other period designated by the Official Account), (ii) if prize is returned as non-deliverable, and/or (iii) in the event of non-compliance with any of the requirements of these General Rules.
By submitting an entry, Entrant grants Sponsor a royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual, sublicensable (through multiple tiers), non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, display, publicly perform, create derivative works from, and display Entrant’s name and likeness and such entry materials (including, without limitation, Content), in whole or in part, on a worldwide basis, and to incorporate it into other works, in any form, media or technology now known or later developed, including for promotional or marketing purposes, without additional compensation, notification or permission, unless restricted by law. If necessary, Entrant will sign any necessary documentation that may be required for Sponsor or its designees to make use of the non-exclusive rights Entrant is granting to use the entry. Except where prohibited, by accepting a prize, winner(s) grant the Sponsor permission to use his/her name, image, voice, and likeness worldwide, in perpetuity, in any and all media now known or hereinafter invented in any and all marketing and promotional materials and waive any claims to royalty, right, or remuneration for such use. Each winner’s name may be included in a publicly available winners list.
By submitting Content you agree that your Content disclosure is gratuitous, unsolicited, and made without restriction, will not place the Sponsor under any fiduciary or other obligation, that the Sponsor and Sponsor are free to use and otherwise disclose the ideas contained in the Entry on a non-confidential basis to anyone or otherwise use the ideas without any additional compensation to you. You acknowledge that, by acceptance of your Content, the Sponsor does not waive any rights to use similar or related ideas previously known to Sponsor, or developed by their employees, or obtained from sources other than you.
- GENERAL CONDITIONS.
Contest Entrants agree to be bound by the terms of these General Rules and decisions of Sponsor which are final and binding on all matters relating to a Contest. By entering, participants (and parent/legal guardian if participant is a minor) release and hold harmless Sponsor and each of its parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, representatives, promotion, advertising and online technology agencies, the Platforms, prize suppliers and similar promotional partners and all others associated with the development or execution of the Contest and each of their respective owners, shareholders, directors, officers, employees, contractors and agents (collectively, including Sponsor, the “Releasees”) from any and all liability, claims, actions, injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with participation in a Contest or acceptance, use, misuse or nonuse of any prize or parts thereof (including activity or travel related thereto), including, without limitation, liability for death, personal injury, damage or loss of any kind, and from liability to any other persons relating to or resulting from entering or downloading materials or software in connection with a Contest. The Releasees do not make any warranty, representation or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to the use of any prize, including, without limitation, quality, merchantability, and fitness for a particular purpose, or the Contest. Further, Releasees assume no, and shall not be, responsible or liable for any additional expenses, omissions, delays, re-routing, or acts of any government or authority, of if a Contest cannot take place or if any Prize cannot be awarded due to acts of war, natural disasters, weather, acts of terrorism, or if any prize event is cancelled or postponed for any reason. Sponsor reserves the right to modify a Contest in any way it deems necessary or appropriate and to cancel a Contest if it deems necessary or appropriate.
The use of any automated launching or entry software or any other mechanical or electronic means that permits an Entrant to automatically register and/or enter repeatedly is prohibited. If for any reason a Contest is not capable of running as planned due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of a Contest, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest for any reason. Should a Contest be terminated, Sponsor reserves the right to select the winner(s) in a random drawing from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received as of the action requiring such termination. Releasees assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Releasees are not responsible for lost, late, garbled or misdirected entries or for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or telephone lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Sponsor on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from participation in a Contest or downloading any materials in a Contest. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES OR OTHER REMEDIES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTEMPT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
- DATA COLLECTION.
Entrants agree that Contests and these General Rules are governed solely by the laws of the State of Connecticut. Any claims arising out of a Contest shall be governed solely by Connecticut law and may be brought only in a federal or state court located in the State Connecticut. If any provisions of these General Rules are held to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions hereof will remain in full force and effect.
EXCEPT WHERE PROHIBITED, ENTRANT AGREES THAT: (1) ANY AND ALL DISPUTES, CLAIMS AND CAUSES OF ACTION ARISING OUT OF OR CONNECTED WITH ANY CONTEST OR ANY PRIZE AWARDED SHALL BE RESOLVED INDIVIDUALLY, WITHOUT RESORT TO ANY FORM OF CLASS ACTION; (2) ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, JUDGMENTS AND AWARDS SHALL BE LIMITED TO ACTUAL OUT-OF-POCKET COSTS INCURRED, INCLUDING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH ENTERING THE CONTEST, BUT IN NO EVENT ATTORNEYS’ FEES; AND (3) UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ENTRANT BE PERMITTED TO OBTAIN AWARDS FOR, AND ENTRANT HEREBY WAIVES ALL RIGHTS TO CLAIM, INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL AND CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES AND ANY OTHER DAMAGES, OTHER THAN FOR ACTUAL OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES, AND ANY AND ALL RIGHTS TO HAVE DAMAGES MULTIPLIED OR OTHERWISE INCREASED.
- WINNERS' LISTS.
For a list of winner(s), mail a request specifying the applicable Contest and Entry Period and a self-addressed stamped envelope to be received no later than ninety (90) days after the end of the applicable Entry Period, to: WWE Sweepstakes Fulfillment, 1241 East Main Street, Stamford, CT 06902.
