The RAW vs. SmackDown tag team match had been building up ever since WWE Homecoming. Week after week, RAW and SmackDown invaded each other's shows in an attempt to prove superiority. With a Taboo Tuesday RAW pay-per-view, one would think RAW would have the home field advantage.
The only problem was that Taboo Tuesday was in San Diego -- Rey Mysterio's backyard. So it was no surprise when Mysterio was voted in as one of the SmackDown Superstars to participate in the match. Joining him was Matt Hardy, who led everyone with 31 percent of the votes.
Edge was originally slated to compete in the match, but before the bell rang, Edge said that he wouldn't prove anything by beating Matt Hardy again and that he didn't care what the fans voted for. So, with that, he took himself out of the match, and the monstrous Snitsky took his place.
Snitsky and Masters utilized their size advantage early, and Masters even got his unbreakable Master Lock applied on Mysterio. Hardy was able to make the save, though, before Mysterio could tap out. The SmackDown Superstars soon took to the air and hit stereo flying bodypresses to the outside.
When the action went back into the ring, Mysterio hit a drop toe hold, allowing Rey to connect with Masters with the 619. Hardy hit the Twist of Fate and Mysterio landed a springboard splash for the win.
