BLACKPOOL, England — Following WWE Executive Vice President Triple H welcoming the WWE Universe in Blackpool to the first WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament, Trent Seven and H.C. Dyer got the action underway in a memorable way with a hard-hitting affair.

The action was back and forth, but in the end it was Seven who was able to prevail with a massive lariat, setting the stage for the rest of the night’s action.

 

Jordan Devlin def. Danny Burch in a First Round Match

Jordan Devlin and Danny Burch pulled out all the stops in their first round matchup. Both Devlin and Burch had moments where momentum appeared to be on each competitor’s side, but it was ultimately Devlin who was able to pick up the victory following a kick to Burch. The conclusion was not without controversy though as it appeared Burch kicked out before the count of three.

Despite the disputable three-count, Burch attempted to show a sign of respect after the contest by offering a handshake, which Devlin reciprocated by superkicking Burch in the face.

 

Sam Gradwell def. Saxon Huxley in a First Round Match

With the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament in full swing, Sam Gradwell and Saxon Huxley continued the string of impressive action. However, after an intense back-and-forth it was Gradwell who was able to overcome Huxley with a flying head butt.

 

Pete Dunne def. Roy Johnson in a First Round Match

The cruel Pete Dunne attempts to smash the hand of his opponent and advance in the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament, courtesy of the award-winning WWE Network.

Roy Johnson was spitting hot flames prior to the start of the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament, but it was his opponent in the opening round, Pete Dunne, who proved to be on fire, as "The Bruiserweight" reigned supreme over Johnson with The Bitter End for the victory. After the match, Dunne ignored Johnson's handshake attempt. 

 

Wolfgang def. Tyson T-Bone in a First Round Match

Tyson T-Bone gets flattened by a humongous moonsault from Scotland's Wolfgang, courtesy of the award-winning WWE Network.

Although Tyson T-Bone delivered a brutal headbutt to Wolfgang during their handshake before the beginning of the contest, Wolfgang would not be deterred. Following the referee checking Wolfgang and establishing he could continue, Wolfgang battled all the way back and defeated T-Bone with an incredibly impressive Swanton Bomb.

 

Joseph Conners def. James Drake in a First Round Match

Joseph Conners and James Drake continued the incredible streak of action with another great contest. Both competitors took advantage of their opportunities, but in the end it was Conners who was able to move on in the United Kingdom Championship Tournament with the DLD (Don’t Look Down) for the win.

 

Mark Andrews def. Dan Moloney in a First Round Match

Mark Andrews and Dan Moloney did not disappoint as the two put on a dazzling contest that in the end saw Andrews come out victorious with a stunning Shooting Star Press for the win.

 

Tyler Bate def. Tucker in a First Round Match

Tyler Bate and Tucker closed out the opening round of the inaugural United Kingdom Championship Tournament in hard-hitting style with an ultra-competitive contest. Tucker definitely had his moments, but in the end it was the mustached Bate that came through in the clutch, triumphing over Tucker with The Tyler Driver 97 for the win.

Pete Dunne earns the ire of William Regal and the WWE Universe following an ugly attack on Dunne's Quarterfinals opponent Sam Gradwell at the conclusion of the first night of the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament.

As William Regal, Nigel McGuiness and the Quarterfinalists in the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament stood on the stage for a preview of Part 2, Pete Dunne suddenly sucker punched his next opponent, Sam Gradwell.

Regal was incensed, immediately ripping Dunne off the fallen Gradwell, and warning Dunne as the event went off the air.

Regal and WWE Executive Vice President Triple H established in a post-show press conference that they would discuss and review the situation before taking any action.

Pete Dunne and Sam Gradwell slug it out in the Quarterfinals, following Dunne's sneak attack on Gradwell last night, courtesy of the award-winning WWE Network.

BLACKPOOL, England — The Quarterfinals of the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament kicked off with a contentious matchup between Sam Gradwell and the controversy-engulfed Pete Dunne. The match had a cloud over it after Dunne’s sucker punch on Gradwell at the close of Part 1 of the tournament. However, Gradwell insisted that Dunne not only face no punishment, but also requested that their Quarterfinals match kick off Part 2 of the tournament.

The contest was back and forth and Gradwell took Dunne to his limits, but in the end it was Dunne who was able to pick up the victory after systematically wearing down Gradwell’s back before finally pinning him after bodyslamming his prone back into the turnbuckles.

After the match, “The Bruiserweight” took advantage of the hurt Gradwell and delivered The Bitter End as he advanced onto the Semifinals.

 

Mark Andrews def. Joseph Conners in a Quarterfinals Match

Mark Andrews and Joseph Conners both brought the heat in the Quarterfinals with a contest that had the WWE Universe in Blackpool thoroughly enthralled.

It ultimately was Andrews who was able to break through, defeating Conners with an incredible Shooting Star Press to advance to the Semifinals to face off with Pete Dunne.

"The Last King of Scotland" Wolfgang looks to knock off Trent Seven with a high-risk maneuver on the outside in the Quarterfinals, courtesy of the award-winning WWE Network.

In this battle of behemoths, Wolfgang and Trent Seven laid it all on the line in the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament Quarterfinals.

In the height of an absolute slugfest, it was Wolfgang who was able to get the victory, defeating Seven with the Swanton Bomb to move on in the tournament.

 

Tyler Bate def. Jordan Devlin in a Quarterfinals Match

In the final Quarterfinals Match of the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament, Tyler Bate and Jordan Devlin provided a heart-pulsing contest in front of the UK faithful in Blackpool.

After a thrilling series of exchanges, it was the mustached Bate who was able to secure the win after connecting with the Tyler Driver 97. Bate advanced to take on Wolfgang in the Semifinals

 

Pete Dunne def. Mark Andrews in a Semifinals Match

With only four competitors left, Pete Dunne and Mark Andrews battled it out knowing they were only two wins away from becoming the inaugural WWE United Kingdom Champion.

The clash was intense, but “The Bruiserweight” was able to prevail again, defeating Andrews with The Bitter End to advance onto the Finals.

 

Tyler Bate def. Wolfgang in a Semifinals Match

In the final WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament Semifinals Match, Tyler Bate and Wolfgang (who was rumored to have possibly broken his nose in the Quarterfinals) had an incredibly memorable contest. It would appear that the size and strength advantage would put Wolfgang in prime position to secure the victory, but the 19-year-old Bate was able to tough it out, defeating Wolfgang in amazing fashion with the Tyler Driver 97 to advance to the final round.

However, Bate’s celebration would be short lived, as Pete Dunne blindsided him, leading to questions about Bate’s condition heading into their showdown in the Finals. William Regal aggressively escorted Dunne off the stage as "The Bruiserweight" made his exit.

 

 

Neville def. Tommy End

In a surprise appearance, Neville came out to disparage the WWE Universe in the United Kingdom, but new NXT Superstar Tommy End attempted to silence “The King of the Cruiserweights.” The two then engaged in an impromptu match.

The action was furious, but in the end it was Neville who defeated End with The Red Arrow.

 

Tyler Bate def. Pete Dunne to become first WWE United Kingdom Champion

Finn Bálor made his way out in front of the WWE Universe in Blackpool to thank them for all their incredible support and enthusiasm over the duration of the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament.

Then, Pete Dunne and his former pupil Tyler Bate clashed in the Finals of the inaugural event. Dunne certainly seemed to have the upper hand, with his attack at the end of Bate’s Semifinals match causing the mustached 19-year-old to have a partially separated AC joint as he headed into this last match.

However, Bate fought valiantly as he and Dunne had an absolute thriller that completely captivated the WWE Universe. “The Bruiserweight” continuously attempted to wear down Bate, but the 19-year old would simply not quit and finally broke through, beating Dunne with the Tyler Driver 97 to become the first WWE United Kingdom Champion in history. 

After the match, WWE Executive Vice President Triple H, William Regal, Fit Finlay and Bálor presented Bate with the WWE United Kingdom Championship in an incredible scene as the WWE Universe heaped him with much deserved praise as the confetti fell.
