WWE congratulates new IPL champions Mumbai Indians

WWE congratulates the Mumbai Indians, who defeated the Rising Pune Supergiant Sunday to become champions of the 2017 Indian Premier League.

Though the Mumbai Indians dominated for much of the year, winning their first nine of 11 matches to secure a firm grip of first place in the IPL, the team fell to the Supergiant in an IPL first qualifier less than a week earlier – their third defeat at the hands of the Supergiant this season. Mumbai rebounded on its second chance at a finals appearance last Friday with a victory over Kolkata Knight Riders. That set the stage for Sunday’s clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, where the Indians narrowly toppled the Supergiant by one run, 129/8 to 128/6, to become three-time conquerors of IPL cricket.

WWE took to social media to congratulate the winners, including the team’s newest fans, The New Day's Big E and Kofi Kingston. While visiting Mumbai for a media tour just over a week ago, the duo took in an Indians match, sporting the club colors and waving its banner in proud support.

The King of Kings, Triple H, soon followed up with his own congratulatory message, and a heads-up for the team to keep an eye on their mail.

Congratulations, Mumbai Indians. Or perhaps we should say, “Badhai ho!”
