WWE Champion Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton (Punjabi Prison Match)

At WWE Money in the Bank, Mahal’s faithful cohorts, The Singh Brothers, not only cost Orton his chance to regain the WWE Title, but also attacked his father, WWE Hall of Famer “Cowboy” Bob Orton. In response, one week after attacking Mahal, a still seething Orton opted to hold up the June 27 edition of SmackDown LIVE. Orton threatened the titleholder’s family and everybody else who would dare to get in his way until he received another WWE Championship Match against The Modern-Day Maharaja.

Though SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon agreed that The Viper deserved another title opportunity, he decided that the personal nature of the rivalry between the two Superstars demanded a special match stipulation. Because Orton already lost his mandatory rematch, Shane-O-Mac indicated that he would allow Mahal to choose the stipulation.
