Superstars and Divas visit Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles

It was smiles all around Friday when the WWE Superstars and Divas visited patients at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles before SummerSlam .

Divas Champion Layla and Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & R-Truth were on hand to provide some cheer for the young patients as WWE's summer classic drew closer. The champions mingled with the children, posed for pictures and spent some time with devoted members of the WWE Universe ( PHOTOS). The visit came only one day after Superstars visited the Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA. ( STORY | PHOTOS)

The event began at around 3 p.m. PT, when the Superstars arrived and met with the patients at Children's Hospital. They passed out Mattel action figures and signed some autographs with the kids. Needless to say, the patients were ecstatic at getting to meet their WWE heroes.

"As soon as we walked in the room you could see the kids' faces light up," Kingston told WWE.com. "We just knew it was going to be a good day."

"Everyone stood out," agreed Truth. "We are all here for one cause. And that's to make everyone happy."

After a general meet-and-greet, Kofi, Truth and Layla moved into another area of the hospital for some one-on-one time with some of the patients. One in particular seemed to form a connection with Layla; a young girl named Jasmin who Layla said "really touched my heart." At the end of the visit, the Divas Champion gave Jasmin her earrings as a gift after the girl said how much she liked them.

All in all, the Superstars declared the day a success, and were glad to help put smiles on some of their biggest fans.

"The kids are in a tough spot," said Kofi. "Just to come in here and put smiles on faces means a lot."

"The fans usually come out to see us," Truth added. "Now, we are going out to see them."
