Arena Report - Peoria Civic Center
Consisting of an exhibit hall, a theatre and the Carver Arena, the Peoria Civic Center hosts more than 375 events and welcomes over 900,000 visitors every year. The Civic Center first opened in 1982 with a Kenny Rogers concert, and is currently undergoing a $55 million expansion.
In August, 2002 SmackDown rolled into Peoria and saw Randy Orton defeat Hardcore Holly in Orton's first WWE televised match. In more recent history, current WWE Champion John Cena trounced JBL and Orlando Jordan at live event at the Civic Center in June, 2005.
Along with hosting exciting sports-entertainment events, the arena is home to the Bradley University basketball team, the Peoria Rivermen hockey team, the Peoria Symphony and the Peoria Ballet.
