SmackDown Five Point Preview: June 15, 2012

Who has the most to gain in the tag team clash: the champions or the challengers?

Sheamus vs. Tensai: Raw, June 11, 2012

Tensai battles the World Heavyweight Champion.

With less than 72 hours to go before their championship clashes at No Way Out, both World Title holders – WWE Champion CM Punk & World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus – will join forces against two respective No Way Out challengers in Daniel Bryan & Dolph Ziggler. For what’s sure to be a marquee tag team match on SmackDown, the only question is: Who needs the win more?

After coming up with impressive victories on Raw SuperShow, could The Straight Edge Superstar and The Celtic Warrior take the wind out of the challengers’ sails? Or would a victory for Ziggler & Bryan create a surge in momentum that the reigning champions will struggle to overcome at No Way Out?

Why did AJ kiss Kane?

CM Punk & AJ vs. Daniel Bryan & Kane: Raw, June 11, 2012

AJ adds more fuel to the fire when she teams with WWE Champion CM Punk against the team of Daniel Bryan & Kane.

It’s up for debate whether AJ is the type to kiss and tell after locking lips with Kane on Raw. However, her public display of affection for The Devil’s Favorite Demon did little to clarify the Geek Goddess’ agenda.

Perhaps AJ hoped her shocking smooch would rattle Kane enough for CM Punk – the other target of her affection in recent weeks – to capitalize. Maybe she sought only to make her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Bryan, jealous. Or could the kiss really serve as a sign of her true feelings for The Big Red Monster?

AJ has shown how her feminine wiles can become a strong influence on the events in the squared circle, but whether she elects to reveal how much feeling went into her tender moment with the monstrous Kane could boost or break a few hearts on SmackDown.

Will Big Show display remorse for knocking out WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon?

Big Show knocks out Mr. McMahon: Raw, June 11, 2012

The Chairman gets knocked out by Big Show.

Thanks to the “ironclad” contract he received from Raw and SmackDown General Manager John Laurinaitis, Big Show will likely face few repercussions for knocking out WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon with a devastating WMD on Raw. Whether they suspend or fire him, the 14-year WWE veteran claims he will still get paid in the end.

That said, does The World’s Largest Athlete express any regrets for hitting Mr. McMahon with a powerful punch that appeared to be targeted for John Cena? Big Show may have unlocked his  ferocious giant within since Big Johnny rehired him, but he can still be the bigger man by owning up to an accidental attack on an innocent bystander (who just happens to own WWE).

Will Brodus Clay go after "People Power"?

Brodus Clay vs. Derrick Bateman: SmackDown, June 8, 2012

Brodus Clay faces Derrick Bateman one-on-one on SmackDown.

The Funkasaurus Brodus Clay looked right at home on SmackDown in his victorious effort against Derrick Bateman last week. However, it wasn’t by choice after John Laurinaitis assigned him exclusively to the blue brand for what former SmackDown GM Theodore Long implied was an attempt to keep him away from Big Show.

In the wake of The World’s Largest Athlete’s attack on Mr. McMahon, Clay now finds himself with an opportunity to express his feelings to a “People Power” administration in damage control mode. Will the flashy grappler pile on Big Johnny's woes by saying what he really thinks of the current leadership?

Will Christian relapse after missing a golden opportunity on Raw?

Christian vs. The Great Khali vs. Jack Swagger vs. Dolph Ziggler - Fatal 4-Way No. 1 Contender's Elimination Match: Raw, June 11, 2012

Christian, The Great Khali, Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler fight for the right to face Sheamus at No Way Out.

Christian didn’t ask to participate in the Fatal 4-Way Match on Raw that conferred the victorious Superstar with the designation of No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship at No Way Out. Yet, there he was, giving his all and taking the fight to the eventual winner, Dolph Ziggler.

Captain Charisma confessed experiencing a “moment of clarity” on “The Peep Show” last week that changed his priorities from whining about a lack of title opportunities to working on his WWE Hall of Fame candidacy. Now, the reigning Intercontinental Title holder can prove his heart is truly in the right place by getting back to work defending the championship gold that’s already around his waist.
