Droz's picks for Royal Rumble

Droz's picks for Royal Rumble

Hope everyone out there had a happy and wonderful new year. It's hard to believe that we're in 2009 already. But here it is, and if this year goes by as fast as last year went, I'll be typing 2010 soon enough.  Speaking of New Year's, I went out to a local bar with my sister and brother-in-law to celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary, as well as the new year, and had a wonderful time. You know your a lightweight when you've had two beers and a champagne toast and you're little wobbly driving, no not a car, my wheelchair. Ha! All that aside. The Rumble is here, so lets get started.

WWE Women's Title Match: Beth Phoenix  vs. Melina

While Beth Phoenix has had the gold for quite some time now, I find it very hard not to pick her in this match with Melina. Not saying Melina doesn't have a chance because that girl has some skill, but I just feel Phoenix isn't quite ready to drop the title any time soon.

ECW Title Match: Jack Swagger vs. Matt Hardy

Seeing Swagger take the gold from Matt Hardy, I have to admit that I was a little bit hurt. I've been so happy for Matt Hardy having the ECW title,  but Swagger sure deserved winning the gold and this kid has the perfect size, strength and speed to hold on to this title for a good bit of time. Matt definitely has his hands full trying to win this championship, and although I would love to see this, I don't see Swagger dropping the gold at this time. I'm looking forward to seeing a kick butt match though.

WWE Title Match: Jeff Hardy © vs. Edge

Right off the bat let me just saw WOO HOO!! Jeff Hardy!! I hope that Jeff is able to hold onto this title for a while. It has been a long time coming and I know the people are sure behind his title run, hopefully others will see this and it will continue. Edge definitely has the skills to take the gold from Hardy, and with the circumstances that have risen over the past week or two, he could be behind some serious wrong doing.  As long as Hardy doesn't run into any serious interference, I see him retaining his title. Let's hope I'm right.

World Title Match: John Cena vs. JBL

Well these two have had some slobberknockers before and I don't think this one will be any different. JBL has done quite a bit of work to get this opportunity and he will surely make the best of it come Sunday. One thing I worry about for Cena is the fact that JBL has Shawn Michaels on his payroll and this may come into play with the outcome of this match. Bradshaw has really reinvented himself, more so his body, making himself that much more agile and that much more dangerous.  When the bell finally rings, we will still see Cena's hand raised with his championship.

The Royal Rumble Match

With so many participants involved in the rumble it will be hard to run down the whole list. As a matter of fact, it has been 10 years since I've competed in my last rumble match. (I think I went out 12th or 13th by King Mabel) anyway, enough about that. I'm sitting trying to figure out what to put down, when I just decided that I'm going to go with the winner.  I see the winner being Randy Orton. There are so many great competitors involved with this match that you can't pick who is throwing who where, you just have to go ahead and pick the winner. I'm sure many of you don't agree but the roll Orton has been on makes me feel that he will be the last man standing. Let see how it goes!

Two weeks ago I had my reunion with my college buddies down in Atlantic City. We've been doing this for about 6 years now and it's great getting to see guys that I haven't seen in quite some time. The great thing about this reunion is being able to catch up on what everyone is doing, who has new kids, new jobs, etc.  From what I hear, next year's event is scheduled to be a knock down drag out so I'm going to have to get ready for that one many months in advance.

Well that's it for right now. I hope that all of you please keep our troops and their families in your thoughts and prayers. As always, I'm sure they're greatly appreciated.

Until next time…

Droz
Peace
