After being denied a spot in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal by Stephanie McMahon and informed that he can only step onto The Grandest Stage on Them All if United States Champion Rusev agrees to give him a U.S Title rematch, questions are running wild as to whether John Cena will even be part of WrestleMania 31.   

What would The Showcase of the Immortals be without Cena, let alone his larger-than-life entrance and the infectious nature of his “Hustle, Loyalty, Respect” mantra?  Whether you can imagine it or not, that possibility is exactly what is on the table right now.  

Maybe it is just time for a change. In previous eras, the WWE Universe couldn’t imagine a WrestleMania without Hulk Hogan or “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Is Cena simply fighting the inevitable?

Rusev has already stated in no uncertain terms that Cena will never be his opponent at WrestleMania. No one can deny that the Cenation leader has faced seemingly insurmountable odds in the past and come out on top.  Yet, is this new challenge something different?

The Hero of the Russian Federation is in a unique position in that he has absolutely nothing to prove to Cena or anyone else. Going into WWE Fastlane, no one had pinned Rusev or made him submit. Despite the controversial way their contest ended at WWE Fastlane, that fact remains true. Shouldn’t The Bulgarian Brute have the right to pick someone else whom he hasn’t beaten yet? What could Cena possibly do to change his mind? And, perhaps more importantly, after years of battling the odds, does Cena still have it inside himself anymore to stand up to such a challenge?

Then again, WWE is a world where absolutely anything can happen and you simply can never say “never.” Did anyone ever think Cena would agree to bring back COO Triple H and Stephanie once they were ousted from power? Guess what, it happened.

We are talking about a 15-time World Champion. Like him or hate him, John Cena is one of the greatest Superstars that even lived. He lives and breathes the squared circle and WrestleMania itself. Nothing has ever been able to stop him when he puts his mind to it, and just because something seems impossible, keep in mind The Road to WrestleMania has many twists and turns. The impossible may become very possible, in a hurry.
