'Total Divas' Season 2, Episode 3 recap: The Slappening

Summer Rae confronts Natalya at home: Total Divas, March 30, 2014

Natalya is stunned when she's slapped by Summer Rae.

The wheels come off the bus (figuratively speaking) on E!'s “Total Divas” when Daniel Bryan’s two hard-and-fast rules for his cash-guzzling, ozone-depleting mobile palace are both violated in short and enthusiastic order by his gaggle of unruly co-passengers. The Beard declares the bus experiment an abject failure, and his metaphorical headache soon becomes manifest when he gets banged up during a match on Raw and is forced to take a few days off while he recuperates. On the bright side, at least he’s off the bus.

Meanwhile, lingering gossip surrounding Summer Rae has recast her as some kind of salacious flirt in the eyes of the Divas, and it’s not long before the whole crew (minus Eva Marie) is turning their noses up at the newbie. Summer attempts to clear her name through an innocent – if handsy – conference with Bryan, but that just gets her in deeper trouble when Brie catches wind of it and all but tears Summer apart for pulling her fiancé aside.

Nikki Bella calls a “Total Divas” meeting to settle the group’s various squabbles wherein Eva Marie and Cameron squash their beef from last week almost immediately, and Brie and Summer follow suit. Natalya, however, not only refuses to give the dancing Diva an inch, but goes so far as to bring Fandango into the scrum. Later, Summer attempts to take the high road by showing up unannounced at Natalya’s front door to talk out their issues.

It … does not go so great. Tensions escalate, Natalya brings up Summer’s age and relationship status into things and ends up getting slapped square across the face. Summer is sent packing from the property with a warning that she’ll have to deal with police should she return. That could have gone better.

Next week: No new episode. Two weeks from now: Summer and Nattie’s grudge finally – finally – spills into the ring.
