This Saturday, Nickelodeon presents its 8th Annual Worldwide Day of Play, a full day dedicated to inspiring kids and families across the globe to lead more active and healthy lifestyles. And the 2011 event is bigger than ever with the presence of The World’s Largest Athlete Big Show.
The 7-foot Big Show will join Lebron James, Donovan McNabb, Abby Wambach, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony as one of the coaches for their "Battle of the Nick Stars." The World’s Largest Athlete will be paired with a team of Nickelodeon Stars to prepare them for a big obstacle course which will air in their 30-minute primetime special on Saturday night.
This year, President Obama and the First Lady will turn off all of Nickelodeon’s on-air programming. Nickelodeon will go dark for three hours from 12 to 3 p.m., to encourage kids across the country and around the world to go outside and play. Joining the President and First Lady will be some of Nickelodeon’s biggest stars, including Jennette McCurdy, Nathan Kress, Noah Munck, and Jerry Trainor from iCarly; The Power Rangers; Victoria Justice, Liz Gillies, Ariana Grande, Avan Jogia, Leon Thomas, Matt Bennett and Daniella Monet from Victorious; Ryan Potter, Gracie Dzienny and Carlos Knight from Supah Ninjas; and many more. Special performances by the Fresh Beat Band and Big Time Rush will also be featured.
Nickelodeon is partnering with 50 incredible organizations including Let’s Move, NFL, MLB, PGA, MLS, USTA, President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, & Nutrition, and Boys & Girls Clubs of America to program more than 40 competitive, non-competitive and recreational games on the Ellipse on the National Mall in Washington D.C.
