WWE World Heavyweight Championship - Sgt. Slaughter

January 19, 1991 - March 24, 1991

At the Royal Rumble, Ultimate Warrior put his WWE Championship on the line against American turncoat and Iraqi sympathizer Sgt. Slaughter. Before the match, "Macho King" Randy Savage sent out his manager, Sensational Sherri, to the ring to announce that Sgt. Slaughter had agreed to give him a title shot if he could defeat Ultimate Warrior. Sherri was out to ask Ultimate Warrior for the same promise, but the she was greeted with a resounding "no." Ultimate Warrior started out completely dominating Slaughter, not allowing the turncoat any offense. Then Sherri came to ringside, distracting Ultimate Warrior. Ultimate Warrior chased after her only to be ambushed by Savage. In the end, Savage was able to smash his captor over Ultimate Warrior's head while the referee was distracted, and Slaughter covered him for the pin and his only WWE Championship. The opponents wouldn't get any easier for Slaughter as he was next targeted by the "Real American" Hulk Hogan.
