WCW World Championship - Ron Simmons

August 02, 1992 - December 30, 1992

Three weeks after losing the WCW Championship to Vader, Sting was scheduled for a rematch at a live event in Baltimore. However, due to an injury, Sting was unable to compete that night. Instead, WCW President Bill Watts decided to hold a raffle to determine a new No. 1 Contender, with the winner earning Sting's chance to face Vader that night.

Ron Simmons won the raffle, going on to defeat Vader that night to claim the gold. With the victory, Simmons became the first African-American to win a World Championship. Several WCW Superstars, including "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, rushed to the ring to help Simmons celebrate his groundbreaking accomplishment.
