Heading home: Mansoor returns to Saudi Arabia to meet aspiring young athletes and enjoy an emotional family reunion

Mansoor made a memorable hometown visit this week as he travelled to Riyadh to see family and friends and take a look at the latest modern initiatives in Saudi Arabia.

It was an emotional reunion for the first-ever Superstar from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as he met some of those people closest to him and played a game of soccer before eating traditional food and enjoying the warm desert sunshine.

“Like so many people in the world right now, it has been hard being apart from family and friends,” Mansoor said. “I have been incredibly lucky to return to Riyadh, which was overwhelming. It was incredible to start my trip with such joy. They couldn’t wait to hear the latest on my WWE journey, which has seen me work harder than ever to get where I need to go.”

Mansoor was invited by the General Education Authority (GEA) to deliver an online educational lecture to young Saudi students dreaming of a career in entertainment and events. He delivered a hugely inspirational speech covering his WWE journey so far and took questions from the students who were fascinated by his appearances in the WWE special events presented in Riyadh and Jeddah.

At the MISK Art Foundation, Mansoor met with talented Saudi artists. He also spent a full day delivering training masterclasses in health and fitness for young female athletes at a gym.

“The activities I took part in were hugely enjoyable and really important from an educational perspective,” Mansoor said. “I was able to meet some very talented aspiring athletes, which enabled me to deliver an empowering message to the new generation of women participating in sports.”

The soccer-mad Superstar also met with Mohammad Al-Shalhoub, one of the greatest Saudi soccer stars of all time and a legend at Riyadh-based club Al Hilal FC – the most dominant team in Saudi Arabia and current holders of the AFC Champions League, the Saudi Professional League title and the King’s Cup. The two athletes spoke about their experiences in the sports industry before Al-Shalhoub presented Mansoor with an official Al Hilal club jersey.

“The virtual lecture I gave to students about the events and entertainment industry will hopefully show them that if you believe in yourself you can achieve anything, regardless of your background,” Mansoor said. “I’m living proof of that. I’m now focusing on continuing my development in the ring and look forward to returning here in the future to perform in a live show.”
