Sin Cara meets players prior to Mexico national team's World Cup qualifying win

It was a great weekend for the Mexico national football team, who sealed a berth in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia with a 1-0 win over Panama during the final round of CONCACAF qualifying. It was equally great for the team’s guest, Sin Cara; before watching Mexico’s huge victory, he met up with several of its players, including star forward Raúl Jiménez, defender Diego Reyes, and striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernández.

The three players and Sin Cara spent quality time together trading stories, laughs and gifts – Sin Cara was presented with a jersey, while Jiménez, Reyes and Hernández received some masks.

Jiménez (@Raul_Jimenez9) is no stranger to donning a Sin Cara mask; last May, he produced one from his shorts after scoring the first goal for S.L. Benfica in its victorious Portugal Cup Final campaign.

After meeting the players, Sin Cara took to Twitter and encouraged everyone to watch the match taking place at Estadio Azteca. The team responded to the masked Superstar using the same platform (@miseleccionmx):

With Friday night’s victory, Mexico has regained first place in the qualifying standings, thereby earning a spot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup and a finish no worse than third on the Hexagonal table. Come next year, don’t be too surprised if you see three Mexico players celebrate on a Russian football pitch wearing Sin Cara masks.
