J.R.'s Superstar of the Week - A Tie!
Each week on WWE.com, based on the events seen on RAW, Jim Ross will give his opinion on which Superstar he thought was the RAW Superstar of the Week:
This week's RAW Superstar of the Week is a first...a tie. John Cena and Jeff Hardy share the honor and will receive lovely parting gifts and J.R.'S BBQ Sauce.
Hardy has been red hot since returning to RAW after a three year hiatus. Jeff, who was by his own admission burned out in 2003, has returned refreshed and ready to rock and has never looked better. The new IC Champion has an impressive list of opponents waiting for their shot at the risk taker from North Carolina. Jeff may be his own worst enemy when it comes to mental fatigue and his high risk offense. Jeff also looks to have put on a little size to go with his quickness. Will Hardy have a long run with the IC gold? His last IC reign wasn't a long one, but that was then, and this is now. Between Hardy, Nitro, Benjamin, Haas, and many others it seems that several younger talents have a chance to really advance their careers on RAW via competing for the IC Championship.
Cena is a work horse. He’s a man's man and his blue collar approach to his job and career reminds me in many ways of Steve Austin. No frills, no B.S., just old fashioned, ground attack oriented Smashmouth style that works. Cena strikes me as the type of wrestler who will improve significantly as time moves forward. Cena seemingly relies on guts, freaky strength, and the passion to compete today. Tomorrow we can add a more experienced, refined wrestling style to Cena's other traits. I knew from the first day I saw John in Rick Bassman's UPW years ago that John would be special but I never dreamed Cena would be this good this fast. Whether one loves or hates this athlete is one's right but how anyone cannot respect this young man's work ethic is beyond me.
See you Monday Night on the Fall Premiere of RAW with a special three hour broadcast that starts ONE HOUR EARLY.
