This week's MEP is fourth generation sports-entertainment power broker, Shane McMahon. After all, it was Shane who laid the trap for ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley on Raw. Shane claimed that he and he alone would defend the McMahon family name which was tarnished when WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon was shaved bald at WrestleMania. Shane even went so far as to send Umaga and Armando Estrada to the locker room, creating the illusion that he was on a solo mission to defeat Bobby Lashley for the ECW World Title, even if it meant gambling with his hair as his father did in the Battle of the Billionaires.
Once Lashley was suckered into the match, our Chairman and the Samoan Bulldozer aided Shane in battering and bloodying the ECW standard bearer. With the fallen champion sprawled out on the canvas, Mr. McMahon declared that at Backlash, Lashley would have to defend the ECW World Title in a 3-on-1 Handicap Match against both McMahons and Umaga. One could make the point that special referee "Stone Cold" Steve Austin played a crucial role in Lashley defeating Umaga at WrestleMania -- and that the matchup still could have gone either way. With both McMahons added to the equation at Backlash, I don't like Lashley's odds of keeping his title.
