His motto might be “Roddy vs. The World,” but this week the wind is at the back of Roderick Strong.

First, the NXT Superstar experienced the miracle of life Monday night when his fiancée, professional MMA fighter Marina Shafir, gave birth to their first child, a healthy baby boy named Troy.

Then, the NXT Universe received an inside look at Strong’s personal life when Part 1 of a documentary titled “Who is Roderick Strong?” aired on NXT Wednesday night. The emotional documentary shed light on Strong’s childhood struggles, including an at-times tumultuous family life, and his early days in sports-entertainment. 

The Week of Strong continued today as UFC legend “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey helped spread the word about The Messiah of the Backbreaker, tweeting out a link to the video documentary.

Rousey, who had an announcement of her own last week (her engagement to fellow UFC fighter Travis Browne), is no stranger to Strong. The former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion is friends and training partners with Shafir — both fighters are members of MMA’s Four Horsewomen stable — and Rousey has even witnessed Strong in action dating back to his days in the independent circuit.
