Kyle O’Reilly to challenge EVOLVE Champion Austin Theory on April 4 in New York
If the stars align for The Undisputed ERA during WrestleMania Week, NXT’s most notorious faction could end up in possession of not only the NXT Championship, but also the EVOLVE Championship by the time they leave New York.
Kyle O’Reilly will challenge for the EVOLVE Title held by Austin Theory at EVOLVE 125 on Thursday, April 4, at La Boom in Queens, N.Y. That’s in addition to Undisputed ERA’s already busy WrestleMania Week which includes Adam Cole battling Johnny Gargano for the newly vacant NXT Title in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match at TakeOver: New York.
O’Reilly made his EVOLVE Championship ambitions known last weekend, delivering a video message to Theory after the latter’s match against WWN Champion JD Drake at EVOLVE 124.
“How fitting, the brand-new, evolved Kyle O’Reilly will become the brand-new EVOLVE Champion,” O’Reilly warned Theory.
Theory’s issues with Undisputed ERA began last month at EVOLVE 121 in Atlanta, when he confronted Cole, who was making a guest appearance on the show. The brash EVOLVE Champion told Cole that Undisputed ERA should ditch O’Reilly — whom Theory called “dead weight” — and instead add him to their ranks. If Theory thought the strategy would endear him to the group, O’Reilly’s fiery response suggests otherwise.
NXT Superstars and former EVOLVE Tag Team Champions The Street Profits will also be in action on April 4, battling members of The Unwanted in singles matches. Montez Ford will take on Shane Strickland and Angelo Dawkins will face Colby Corino. O’Reilly and The Street Profits will all be available for meet-and-greets at 11 a.m. ET. You must have a ticket to EVOLVE 125 to take part in the meet-and-greets. Bell time is noon ET.
