Will Velveteen Dream turn into Johnny Gargano’s worst nightmare?
Johnny Gargano is betting on himself. He made that clear last week when he gave a fiery speech in front of the NXT Universe, announcing that he will put his NXT Title opportunity against Andrade “Cien” Almas at TakeOver: Philadelphia on the line in a match with Velveteen Dream.
Johnny Wrestling is tired of the doubters who continue be skeptical of his singles career, even after he defeated several of NXT’s top competitors to earn his No. 1 contender spot. In addition to being dismissed by the NXT Champion and his outspoken business manager Zelina Vega, Gargano was told point-blank by Velveteen Dream during a tense backstage encounter that he believes Gargano got lucky. Gargano only got into the No. 1 Contender’s tournament due to an injury to Dream, and Dream was quick to remind Gargano of that fact. While doing so, Dream heavily disparaged another NXT Superstar, Kassius Ohno (the man Gargano beat in the tournament).
Now Gargano and Dream will battle it out tonight on NXT to see who truly is the Superstar meant to challenge for the NXT Championship. Will Gargano regret voluntarily putting his NXT Title Match on the line, or will Johnny Wrestling once again prove his doubters wrong and continue his underdog story this Saturday at TakeOver: Philadelphia?
Don’t miss this huge showdown between Johnny Gargano and Velveteen Dream tonight at 8/7 C on the award-winning WWE Network.
