Our 5 favorite moments from WrestleMania 30

Another WrestleMania is in the books. This year’s Show of Shows delivered a number of epic moments that will forever live in the minds and hearts of the WWE Universe (and on WWE Network). Legends united, a streak was broken and a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion was crowned. So what were our favorite moments?

With so many to choose from, picking just five was not an easy task. However, there were certain moments that stood above the rest. Moments that will be immortalized on The Grandest Stage of Them All. WWE.com presents our five favorite moments from WrestleMania 30 in New Orleans.

A legendary kickoff to The Showcase of the Immortals

Our 5 favorite moments from WrestleMania 30

We knew WrestleMania 30 would be historic, but no one expected the explosive introduction that occurred in New Orleans. What better way to open The Showcase of the Immortals than with three of WWE’s most distinguished legends?

The host of WrestleMania, Hulk Hogan, started the festivities by welcoming the WWE Universe to the historic 30th edition of The Show of Shows. Though the WWE Hall of Famer made the mistake of branding the Mercedes-Benz Superdome the “Silverdome,” the blunder didn’t ruin the moment.

While having “The Immortal” Hulk Hogan opening the show would suffice on most evenings, this night demanded more. And more the WWE Universe would receive. The sound of glass shattering sparked a frenzy among the crowd of 75,167 strong. As “Stone Cold” Steve Austin familiarized himself to The Hulkster, the WWE Universe hung on every word.

The Texas Rattlesnake gave Hogan a playful jab after his earlier slip-up, and the two WWE Hall of Famers agreed that they both are deserving of their place in WWE history. If the stage wasn’t already grand enough, it was The Rock’s turn to join the WrestleMania Moment.

The arrival of The Most Electrifying Man in All of Entertainment only broadened what was already an explosive launch to an historic night. The People’s Champion — not one to miss an opportunity to relish in the moment — also poked fun at Hogan’s earlier gaffe. However, the red-and-yellow-laced WWE Hall of Famer took the verbal jabs in stride, declaring WrestleMania 30 open for business. Following a legendary cheers, The Showcase of the Immortals was full speed ahead.

Cesaro’s WrestleMania Moment of strength

Our 5 favorite moments from WrestleMania 30

History was made when 30 Superstars entered the ring for the first-ever Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on The Grandest Stage of Them All in New Orleans. Perhaps the historic contest was destined for greatness with WrestleMania 30 Host Hulk Hogan announcing the match after his triumphant return to WWE. However, it was the dramatic ending to the action-packed bout that would cement one Superstar’s place in the history books.

An epic feat of strength

The heavy favorite to walk out victorious was Big Show, the most decorated competitor of the 30 Superstars. Even though The World’s Largest Athlete put up a valiant effort, it wasn’t meant to be for the massive Superstar, who was eliminated by Cesaro to close the contest.

Cesaro not only outlasted 29 other Superstars to hoist the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal trophy, but the rapidly rising Superstar showcased an epic display of strength when he hoisted the 400-plus-pound giant over the top rope to walk out victorious. It’s hard not to be impressed by this WrestleMania Moment.

Shock and awe

No one in the WWE Universe enjoyed watching The Undertaker’s historic WrestleMania undefeated Streak come to an end, but the shocking finish to The Deadman’s dominance at The Show of Shows certainly made for an instant classic. The Beast Incarnate will go down as one of the most destructive Superstars in WWE history, but the popular belief among WWE fans was that the odds were against the mammoth Superstar.

WWE fans can't believe what they see

The stunned look on the dejected faces in the crowd at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome told you all you needed to know: The unthinkable just happened. The Undertaker had been pinned, 1-2-3, on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Brock Lesnar lifted the Legend onto his shoulders on three separate occasions to deliver earth-shattering F-5s. Even after the third F-5, it seemed everyone in attendance, and the millions watching around the world, expected The Deadman to raise his shoulder before the three-count. Unfortunately, it seems the third time was the charm for Lesnar and his outspoken advocate Paul Heyman. For all the confidence that Lesnar and Heyman displayed heading into WrestleMania 30, even they seemed taken aback by what just happened.

It’s not the happiest moment of WrestleMania 30, but it has to go on our favorite moments list for the sheer magnitude of the outcome.

A storybook ending

Our 5 favorite moments from WrestleMania 30

Sunday night’s historic showdown between Triple H and Daniel Bryan represented a classic underdog story. The Game and Stephanie McMahon threw everything they had at the “Yes!” Man, including a vicious assault that left Bryan battered. If Bryan wanted to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 30, he would not only have to defeat a 13-time World Champion, but then regroup and battle Batista and Randy Orton in the main event. Easy, right?

These seemingly insurmountable odds only added to this amazing underdog story. A story that, despite the best efforts of The Authority, would have a happy ending.

Bryan overcame The King of Kings in their one-on-one battle, but a post-match assault further complicated things for Bryan. When it came time for the main event, the hopes of the “Yes!” Movement and its leader were still riding high. However, another attack from The Authority, this time in the midst of the main event itself, made Bryan’s chances of reaching the mountaintop look slim.

Odds be damned, Bryan would realize his dreams at WrestleMania 30 and raise championship gold in front of 75,167 screaming WWE fans. The goat-faced underdog would stand tall in the face of Authority.
