Madison Square Garden

Madison Square Garden (MSG) is the home arena for the NBA's New York Knicks, the NHL's New York Rangers and the WNBA's New York Liberty.

The building (MSG IV) opened to the public on February 11, 1968 with the Salute to the USO starring Bob Hope and Bing Crosby.

In addition to playing host to WrestleMania, MSG was the home of some of the biggest events of the 20th century, including Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier, which took place March 8, 1971.

Some other big names that have played the Garden include Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones, Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson.

The Garden has seen the Knicks win four Eastern Conferences Championships and two NBA Championships (1970 and 1973) and the Rangers Stanley Cup victory (1994).

The Grateful Dead played a record 52 shows at MSG.

Through January 2004, the WWE Championship has changed hands in the Garden 11 times - including Bret Hart s win over Yokozuna at WrestleMania X in 1994 and Chris Benoit's victory over Triple H and Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XX in 2004.

The WrestleMania (1985) and SummerSlam (1988) Pay-Per-Views both debuted at the Garden.

In the first RAW from MSG, Stone Cold gave Mr. McMahon a Stunner for the very first time.
