Heck, the main event is nothing short of The Biggest Fight of the Summer! Yet more important than that, the question remains: Who’s going to come out on top? Who’s stopping by the pay window, and who’s going to want to erase SummerSlam from memory?

Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins (Lumberjack Match)

@JoeyStylesSeth Rollins has the backing of The Authority. Dean Ambrose is unstable. Rollins has the Money in the Bank contract. Ambrose is unstable. Rollins is an aerial daredevil. Ambrose is unstable. Rollins is in unmatched physical condition. Ambrose is unstable. If this was going to be a wrestling match, I would choose Seth Rollins. However, this Lumberjack Match is a very personal war. As the former voice of ECW who saw Sabu conquer the likes of Shane Douglas, Rob Van Dam and even Cactus Jack, I’m choosing the unstable one. WINNER: Dean Ambrose

@HowardFinkelWe are finally going to see these two friends-turned-foes do battle this Sunday. Rollins and Ambrose have nowhere to run with the lumberjacks surrounding the ring. That should work in the favor of Ambrose, who will be able to take the measure of Rollins in what I feel will be a closely contested match. WINNER: Dean Ambrose

Watch the omni-'present' Dean Ambrose surprise Seth Rollins on Raw

Ryan Murphy: I can’t be the only one who thought Dean Ambrose was going to go a little more extreme when he chose the stipulation for this match, can I? I was sure we were getting an FMW-approved Double Hell Death Match — not a brawl you’d see in Saskatchewan before a pancake breakfast. Still, it’ll be awesome — and it’ll be Seth’s to lose. Guy’s greasier than a wall Slimer just busted through. WINNER: Seth Rollins

James Wortman: Timberrrrrr! At SummerSlam, Seth Rollins will have nowhere to hide when he faces the erratic Dean Ambrose in a Lumberjack Match, where the ring will be surrounded by Superstars scorned by The Shield over the years. The volatile environment of this bout could be dangerous for both of these former Hounds of Justice, but Ambrose seems to thrive under hazardous conditions — heck, he seems to love them. With chaos working in Ambrose’s favor, expect the unstable Superstar to unleash Dirty Deeds on Mr. Money in the Bank in this intensely personal encounter. WINNER: Dean Ambrose

John Clapp: As enticing as it is for Ambrose to corner Rollins — which he has effectively done, thanks to the creepily coined “wall of flesh” — I think it was a tactical error to choose a Lumberjack Match. Rollins can’t match Ambrose’s fury or fists, but you’d better believe he can pin Ambrose, especially if the action is contained to the ring. Barring Rollins being fed to lumberjacks like chum tossed at a Sharknado (something I doubt Ambrose would be generous enough to do), the savvy Mr. Money in the Bank prevails. WINNER: Seth Rollins

Dean Ambrose: 3, Seth Rollins: 2

Divas Champion AJ Lee vs. Paige

@JoeyStylesWow! Has Paige out-crazed AJ, or has the battling Brit’s family history in sports-entertainment made her a very young master strategist? I think it’s the latter. Either way, most of what Paige is doing to AJ is what AJ did to countless other Divas, and even Superstars for that matter. I can’t muster any sympathy for AJ, but she has had my admiration since her NXT debut. Love or hate AJ, she is as complete a competitor as WWE has in the Divas division. She was the longest-reigning WWE Divas Champion of all time, and she may break her own record after she turns back the challenge of Paige. WINNER: AJ Lee

@HowardFinkelI think that you can trim “fr” from the word “frenemies,” as it relates to AJ and Paige — that’s clear to see. I believe all that has transpired between these two actually will favor AJ, for let’s not forget that her moods can change like a chameleon changes colors. That can and will work to her advantage, as she will retain her title against the upstart Brit. WINNER: AJ Lee

Paige shoves AJ off the SmackDown stage |  Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery?

Ryan Murphy: I’m still not sure if this whole AJ/Paige thing is a “Single White Female,” I-want-your-life-and-possibly-a-lock-of-your-hair obsession or a reality TV-style “I’m not here to make friends” backstabbing. Either way, I love it and I’d gladly watch these two trade Moolah Whips from here to WrestleMania. So, in the interest of keeping this thing going, I’m voting for Paige. WINNER: Paige

James Wortman: AJ Lee has always been the master of the mind game, but Paige has done her homework, hasn’t she? On Raw, Paige’s bizarre-yet-successful interruption of the Divas Champion’s bout against Eva Marie led many to believe that The Diva of Tomorrow has taken up semi-permanent residence in her “frenemy’s” psyche. Oh yeah, there was also that one time Paige threw AJ off the SmackDown stage and gave the titleholder a wicked case of whiplash. This anticipated rematch between two of WWE’s most talked-about Divas will be a true back-and-forth battle, but Paige’s next chapter is about to truly begin. WINNER: Paige

John Clapp: I’m among those who think Paige’s antics are part of a strategic ploy and not indicative of more worrisome behavior that would require intervention by Gary Spivey. Mind games, however, will only get Paige so far. The fate of the Divas Championship will be decided in the ring, and when it comes to mechanics and intuition, I think AJ is still a step ahead, barely, of The Diva of Tomorrow. And unlike last month’s duel, which AJ won by pinfall, I bet this match ends with a submission. WINNER: AJ Lee

AJ Lee: 3, Paige: 2

Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt

@JoeyStylesWhat does Bray Wyatt know that Chris Jericho and the rest of us don’t? Why did The Eater of Worlds intentionally get Luke Harper disqualified against Y2J? Did Wyatt discover a weakness in Jericho? Does the man who claims to have the whole world in his hands also have the correct game plan to win? I don’t know. What I do know is that Wyatt lost to John Cena at WrestleMania 30 and needs to beat Jericho at SummerSlam to climb the next rung on the ladder. As a young and hungry Superstar, there can be nothing else at the center of his deranged mind. Jericho, on the other hand, has less at stake. To the six-time World Champion, who also now leads a Billboard chart-rocking band in Fozzy and hosts a top rated podcast in “Talk is Jericho,” a loss won’t even be a footnote in his career. A loss by Wyatt, meanwhile, could make his career a footnote. WINNER: Bray Wyatt

@HowardFinkelHere’s how I envision this match: With both Erick Rowan and Luke Harper both banned from ringside, the advantage now goes to ... Bray Wyatt! Not having his disciples present will motivate Wyatt to turn it up a notch and show he can win this very important outing all by himself. It will not be easy against the smarts and savvy that Jericho possesses, but I think that Wyatt will get it done. WINNER: Bray Wyatt

Watch Jericho and Wyatt's intense face-to-face confrontation

Ryan Murphy: Bray Wyatt’s loss to Chris Jericho at WWE Battleground was one of those upsets that nearly broke the internet. As much as it was a blatant overreaction — not to mention an insult to the talents of Y2J — it may have also been a necessary means of refocusing Wyatt. A preacher has to be twice as convincing when he thinks the people in his congregation are no longer listening. WINNER: Bray Wyatt

James Wortman: Bray Wyatt is clearly one of the most manipulative and dangerous forces in WWE history, but can “The Man of 1,000 Truths” truly match wits with “The Man of 1,001 Holds”? Y2J might not always be the most serious guy in the room, but The Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla has about as many sides to his personality as he does podcast subscribers. You never quite know which Jericho you’re going to get, and even though Wyatt nearly felled Y2J before, the silver-tongued preacher can do little to prepare for what the seasoned veteran has in store. With his sinister minions Erick Rowan & Luke Harper banned from ringside, Wyatt’s going to have to eat his all of his cryptic words. WINNER: Chris Jericho

John Clapp: The qualities that make Bray Wyatt lethal — the unbridled ambition, fearlessness and self-assurance — are the same qualities that could cause his downfall at SummerSlam. It’s not that Wyatt needs Harper or Rowan at ringside to defeat Jericho. I think the sinister sermonizer is entirely capable of doing that on his own. But the hubris he displayed in getting Harper disqualified on Raw, if left unchecked at SummerSlam, will only lead to one result: a Codebreaker. WINNER: Chris Jericho

Bray Wyatt: 3, Chris Jericho: 2

Jack Swagger vs. Rusev (Flag Match)

SummerSlam 2014 predictions

@JoeyStylesJack Swagger has done what nobody before him has: He has made Rusev look vulnerable, and that must be eating away at the 300-pound brute. There is no combat training or powerlifting exercises to strengthen the tendons and ligaments in the ankle. Even if there were, the deceptively strong Swagger could easily tear all of them with his Patriot Lock, a hold he has learned to apply from almost any position.

Something else to keep in mind is that Rusev was born in Bulgaria and migrated to Russia for some reason — perhaps money, perhaps an invitation from the Russian government, perhaps simply to be with Lana. (Hell, I’d consider it. Wouldn’t you?) On the other hand, Swagger was born and raised in the United States. The only flag he has ever saluted is the Stars and Stripes. Fueled by the pride of American exceptionalism, I think Swagger will take his place as WWE’s defender of the American flag and all that it stands for, like Sgt. Slaughter and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan before him. USA! USA! USA! WINNER: Jack Swagger

@HowardFinkelI look forward to this match, and I continue to be impressed with the ring presence of Lana’s protégé, Rusev. However, Swagger has similarly continued to impress by hanging tough with The Bulgarian Brute. He’ll once again give Rusev more than he bargained for, but in the end, Rusev will still wave the flag of his country. WINNER: Rusev

Photos: Flag-bearing Superstars |  Watch Swagger's insane Patriot Lock on Cesaro!

Ryan Murphy: I’ll be the first one to admit that I didn’t think Jack Swagger could reinvent himself as an American hero (again) and go on the greatest run of his still-nascent career. Regardless, I’m completely onboard with Captain Jack now, and I’m backing him against the Russian at SummerSlam. After all, it’s the American thing to do. WINNER: Jack Swagger

James Wortman: The corn-fed Oklahoman powerhouse defends Old Glory against the imposing Hero of the Russian Federation, but can his unparalleled patriotism prevail? Swagger is the sole Superstar to earn any kind of victory over The Bulgarian Brute — albeit a disqualification win — and it seems as though the Zeb Colter-led Real American maintains an edge going into this Flag Match. No matter what Lana barks from ringside, if Swagger locks in his submission hold and evades Rusev’s Accolade, he’ll also be waving the Stars and Stripes in victory at SummerSlam. WINNER: Jack Swagger

John Clapp: The support for Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter gives me goose bumps. Every time Zeb leads the WWE Universe in crying out “We the People,” my grin grows a little wider. That’s why it pains me so to predict that Rusev will reassert himself as an unstoppable force in Los Angeles — possibly at the expense of Swagger’s already-hurt ribs. WINNER: Rusev

Jack Swagger: 3, Rusev: 2

Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler

@JoeyStylesIf you get caught up in The Miz’s self-adoration (fueled by his new status as the star of WWE Studios’ “The Marine”) and Dolph Ziggler’s showing off, you could forget that they’re former World Champions, respectively. This sleeper match could steal SummerSlam! That said, Ziggler is amazing at everything he does, especially wrestling … which he claims is the fourth best thing he does. I expect The Showoff to win the match, but not the Intercontinental Championship when The Miz, who senses he is about to lose the title, intentionally gets himself counted out or disqualified. WINNER: Dolph Ziggler

@HowardFinkelLast month, I chose Ziggler to win the Battleground Battle Royal, and he did … or so we thought. Enter The Miz, who laid low on the outside and pulled a fast one on Dolph. Memories are not short in that case. This Sunday, in The Miz’s adopted hometown of Los Angeles, I believe that The Showoff will steal the show and capture the Intercontinental Championship in the process. And for The Miz: Well, that’s a wrap! WINNER: Dolph Ziggler

Showoff or hype?: Dolph speaks candidly to Michael Cole

Ryan Murphy: Do you hate The Miz or do you love to hate The Miz? Responders to his particular brand of nauseating self-devotion seem to fall into one of two camps, which, in turn, dictates whether or not you’d like to see him get his teeth kicked in or escape to infuriate another day. Personally, I love to hate the guy. And though I wouldn’t consider myself a full-on Mizfit, I do hope he continues this Hollywood jerk title run. Sorry, Dolph. WINNER: The Miz

James Wortman: For months, Dolph Ziggler has been set on proving that The Showoff is not simply a braggadocios moniker, and his greatest opportunity to truly “steal the show” came at WWE Battleground, when he had seemingly ensnared the vacant Intercontinental Championship in a massive Battle Royal. But then there was The Miz, who strategically (or cowardly) stole The Showoff’s win and the title in the process. With that loss still fresh in his mind, Ziggler is looking to wipe the smug grin off the oh-so-Hollywood titleholder’s “moneymaker.” In fact, it’s The Awesome One’s obsession with his pampered mug that could prove to be his undoing. Dolph, get ready for your close-up. WINNER: Dolph Ziggler

John Clapp: As Intercontinental Champion, The Miz appears more confident and comfortable than he has looked in years. Unless, of course, anybody makes any sudden movement toward his “moneymaker.” Though part of me wishes these guys would agree to not hit each other in the face in a quirky SummerSlam homage to Shawn Michaels vs. Rick Martel, I very much believe The Miz is going to get smacked in the face, courtesy of Ziggler’s superkick. WINNER: Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler: 4, The Miz: 1

Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton

SummerSlam 2014 predictions

@JoeyStylesWhen Randy Orton decimated Roman Reigns on Raw, I saw the sinister sociopathic Viper of old who dropped Stephanie McMahon with an RKO and kicked Vince McMahon in the skull. I saw Orton shed the skin of a constantly complaining pawn to reveal The Apex Predator that terrorized WWE for years. Nonetheless, sometimes the future is clear and unavoidable. Roman Reigns is the future Face of WWE. The Superman Punch and Spear will eventually be as iconic as Hulk Hogan’s Legdrop, Steve Austin’s Stone Cold Stunner and John Cena’s Attitude Adjustment. Orton is Reigns’ first serious test, and it’s one that he’ll pass. Then it’ll be onto the next test … and the next … and the next. WINNER: Roman Reigns

@HowardFinkelSuccess has come at a rapid pace for Reigns, and he has worked hard to attain it. And I would suggest that is playing with the psyche of Orton. Over these past few weeks, The Viper has been at odds with any number of people, all because of Reigns’ fast ascension. Orton will be more than ready for this Sunday, and will get his hand raised after all is said and done. WINNER: Randy Orton

Remember The Viper's relentless beatdown of Roman Reigns?

Ryan Murphy: This should be the match historians one day point to as the stepping-off point on Roman Reigns’ journey to the Promised Land. Should be. Trouble is, Randy Orton plays spoiler better than anyone in WWE, and he’ll see to it that Reigns’ ascendance is denied — at least for one night. WINNER: Roman Reigns

James Wortman: A battle born out of WWE World Championship aspirations has become one of WWE’s most personal rivalries as Randy Orton seeks to halt the seemingly meteoric rise of Roman Reigns. Yet, even though The Viper is one of the most diabolical ring strategists of all time — he didn’t become a “Legend Killer” by being a nice guy — Reigns is definitely heating up as a solo competitor. Look for WWE’s Apex Predator to get bumped down the food chain as Reigns proves himself as a future contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Believe that. WINNER: Roman Reigns

John Clapp: Randy Orton isn’t the most relatable dude. (Can you relate to a perfectly symmetrical, 6-foot-5 genetic freak who considers himself The Apex Predator?) Yet, even I think he’s justified in feeling bent out of shape about his current station in WWE.Right or wrong, Reigns derailed Orton’s plans for a WWE World Heavyweight Championship rematch. Who knows how else the equally symmetrical Reigns threatens Orton? Unfortunately for the powerhouse, it’s when The Viper feels threatened that he seems to be at his most dangerous. WINNER: Randy Orton

Roman Reigns: 3, Randy Orton: 2

Brie Bella vs. Stephanie McMahon

@JoeyStylesThis match is the most difficult to predict. Not because I have any doubt Brie Bella can wipe the mat with Stephanie McMahon, who hasn’t competed in more than a decade and was never a full-time competitor. It’s because Stephanie is a principal owner of WWE and, therefore, a person who determines the continued employment of the referee, timekeeper, ring announcer and everyone else who works for this company. There is also the little matter of Triple H’s potential ringside presence. Brie’s sister Nikki wouldn’t be able to neutralize The Game and, quite frankly, neither would an injured Daniel Bryan. I don’t see any way The Authority doesn’t do everything in their unlimited power to humiliate Brie. WINNER: Stephanie McMahon

@HowardFinkelI believe that despite all that’s transpired between these two outside the ring, their issue must be decided within the confines of the squared circle. And I don’t buy for a second that, despite her extended break from competition, Stephanie will show signs of ring rust. She’s a student of “The Game,” literally and figuratively speaking (see the two Pedigrees she delivered on Raw weeks ago), and that edge will go a long way toward her gaining the win over Brie. WINNER: Stephanie McMahon

Ryan Murphy: Has there ever been a pay-per-view match featuring a McMahon family member that wasn’t both wholly entertaining and completely bug nuts? I can’t think of one, and Stephanie’s not about to under-deliver on a family reputation. Look for this one to resemble that internet meme of Batman slapping the guano out of Robin, and expect Mr. McMahon’s baby girl to prevail. WINNER: Stephanie McMahon

James Wortman: Based on what we’ve seen over the past few weeks, there doesn’t appear to be a version of this match that doesn’t end with Stephanie McMahon’s celebratory “Yes!” chant mockery. Not only did the Authority matriarch punish and humiliate both Bella Twins with a pair of Pedigrees on Raw, she masterminded a scenario this past Monday night that resulted in Brie being taken out of the arena in handcuffs. With both a physical and, now, psychological edge over the newly reinstated Diva, Stephanie will undoubtedly assert her dominance over the “Total Divas” star in Los Angeles. That’s just the harsh reality. WINNER: Stephanie McMahon

John Clapp: Stephanie McMahon is nothing if not methodical, but even the queen is capable of a misstep — in this case, stoking the fire under Brie Bella, who was already plenty incensed long before Megan Miller became known to the WWE Universe. Stephanie succeeded in getting the Bella twin sent to jail, but at SummerSlam, the only locking up we’ll see is in the form of Stephanie getting tied in the “Yes!” Lock. WINNER: Brie Bella

Stephanie McMahon: 4, Brie Bella: 1

WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar

SummerSlam 2014 predictions

@JoeyStylesIt’s hard to pick against John Cena in any match because of his 15 World Championships. However, I don’t think people fully realize how impressive Brock Lesnar’s conquests are when Paul Heyman boasts about them week after week. Since returning to WWE, Lesnar has only been defeated when knocked cold by a steel chain or steel steps. Unless the rules of this match change or Cena manages to hit Lesnar with his car without the referee seeing it, the man who conquered The Undertaker’s WrestleMania Streak will defeat John Cena for his fourth WWE Championship. WINNER: Brock Lesnar

@HowardFinkelMake no mistake about it: Brock Lesnar is The Beast Incarnate and John Cena is not WWE World Heavyweight Champion via a fluke! At the beginning of this week, I felt Lesnar was going to reach the top of that championship mountain this Sunday. However, Cena’s impassioned and emotional message that he delivered last Monday on Raw swayed my thinking anew. Now I truly believe that Cena will dig down deep and find a way to outlast the grizzled Lesnar. Truth be told, it’s all or nothing for Cena in a few short days! WINNER: John Cena

Don't miss The Biggest Fight of the Summer |  WWE Network: Prelude to SummerSlam

Ryan Murphy: Most folks will be eyeballing this one with the same heart-in-your-gullet anticipation you get while watching a video of a gazelle lowering its head to take a drink of croc-infested water. I hesitate to assume that John Cena will be the gazelle in this scenario — the guy has beaten Brock Lesnar before — but I’ve watched enough Animal Planet to know how this is gonna turn out. WINNER: Brock Lesnar

James Wortman: This one’s gonna be ugly. Becoming even more of a force of nature after snapping The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania 30, Brock Lesnar won’t rest until he has pried the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from the mangled form of John Cena at SummerSlam. Not even The Champ’s unparalleled passion and dedication to the WWE Universe will save him from the horrors that await Sunday. Paul Heyman’s right: WWE is Brock’s house now, and Cena’s about to be shown the door. WINNER: Brock Lesnar

John Clapp: I believe Paul Heyman when he says John Cena will endure an unworldly beating at the hands of The Anomaly Sunday. But lose the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? To Brock Lesnar, a guy to whom the title is less about representing WWE and more about a bigger payday? I think not. The Champ is fighting for preservation, and I can’t reasonably foresee a scenario in which he gets pinned or made to submit, even by the baddest ass-kicker on the planet. WINNER: John Cena

Brock Lesnar: 3, John Cena: 2
