Droz's picks for SummerSlam
Well, I'm back once again to instill my great knowledge and perfect picks on all of you. I really hope you didn't take that to heart, because although my picks always seem to be spectacular, the Superstars that I pick to win don't always do their job. Here comes the wisdom, folks … my SummerSlam picks are upon you!
Edge vs. Undertaker (Hell in a Cell Match)
Right off the bat, you would think Edge would have the "edge" (haha) in this match because Undertaker has been out for so long. The one thing many fail to realize, though, is the fact that Death Valley may just have magical powers and The Phenom will surely come back bigger and stronger than ever. All that aside, these two Superstars are sure to batter and bloody each other inside and out of the cage, and against my better judgment and superior knowledge, I'd have to pick Edge on this one in finding a way to pull this match out.
WWE Champion Triple H vs. The Great Khali
WOW! Here's a match that is definitely going to be interesting. The Game has looked great for a long time now and, in my eyes, it would be tough to see him lose this match. The one thing that worries me is the fact that with Khali's size, one or two big shots may put Triple H down for the count. I don't see this one going very long and although I see Triple H winning, Khali may actually surprise some people.
World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk vs. JBL
From day one, CM Punk has really impressed me. Before he came to WWE, I had read a few things about him and it seems to me that with this match, he's going to need all the skill and talent that he possesses. JBL is not one to be taken lightly and with the huge size advantage, Punk will have his work cut out for him. I see Punk pulling this one out, but "Bradshaw" will make sure that the champion will pay dearly for this win.
ECW Champion Mark Henry vs. Matt Hardy
With the ECW Championship on the line, Mark Henry is sure to be out for blood. Over these past few months, Mark Henry has been very impressive with his title reign. And in my eyes, he's been very deserving of holding this gold. Matt Hardy has a great chance of taking this title from Henry as long as he can stay away from his huge power moves. Hardy has the quickness to do that, but as the match goes on, can he sustain? That is the question. Sorry to say, I think Henry will be able to do enough damage to put the challenger down and retain his championship.
John Cena vs. Batista
Here's a match that I'm up in the air about. Both Superstars are beloved by most of the fans and it's going to be interesting to see how the crowd is divided. They have been interacting with each other for quite some time now and were even World Tag Team Champs for a week. With this interaction, we've seen these two men are very equal with their size and strength, but I'd have to give the advantage in quickness to John Cena. I think that is going to play a major role in this match. This one, in my eyes, could be the match of the night and I'm reluctant to say it, but I have to give the edge to The Animal Batista.
Montel Vontavious Porter vs. Jeff Hardy
The history between these two runs very deep. When MVP called Jeff out, and just blasted him on TV for things that have gone on in Hardy's life, he opened up a can of worms that's probably going to come back and haunt him big time in this match. Hardy has given us so many exceptional matches throughout his career and when you have motivation like this, it's not hard to kick into your reserves and really put on a superior performance. MVP himself has exceptional talent but in this match, that's just not going to be enough. Hardy will release the fury and take this match home.
Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston & Women's Champion Mickie James vs. Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix (Winners Take All Tag Team Match)
I have to say I'm intrigued by this match, or should I say the type of match that has been made. Adamle put this one together and I have to say I've never heard of a match like this before. It will be a hard pill to swallow for whichever team loses this match. I have to say in the beginning when Santino first came around, I found him annoying but as time has gone on, he's grown on me with his entertaining commentary and humor. Don't take that for me believing that he's going to get the win, but his partner could possibly earn him the Intercontinental Title. Kofi and Mickie have been great champions and it will remain that way once this match is over.
HBK's Special Announcement
I really don't know what to say simply because I have no idea, like you, what HBK could possibly have to say. One would hope that he is not retiring after his Hall of Fame career, but it would be understandable after all he's been through physically throughout the years. It would be nice to hear that he's coming back to compete and maybe take care of some unfinished buisness with Chris Jericho. I may be psychic, but I can't read his mind!
Can you believe that summer is almost gone? It seems to have gone by in a flash. Hell, forget the summer … this year, in general, has gone by unbelieveably fast. I guess one of the reasons this summer has cruised by for me is the fact that I've been layed up in bed for a little more than a month now. I've got skin problems that I'm dealing with and, hopefully, I'll be up either by this weekend or the beginning of next week.
People always ask me how I can stand being in bed for so long and not go nuts. I tell them I'm already nuts so this is a breeze! The one thing I do miss is getting out and seeing my nieces and nephews participating in their wide array of sports. Anyway, I should be up soon so enough on that. Well, I guess that's about it for this article. I hope all of you have enjoyed this summer and, once again, if you can please keep our troops and their families in your thoughts and prayers.
Until next time …
Droz … Peace
