Dasha Fuentes given University of Central Florida’s 30 Under 30 Award
SmackDown LIVE broadcaster Dasha Fuentes has been given a 30 Under 30 Award by her alma mater, the University of Central Florida.
The awards recognize 30 university alumni under the age of 30 who “strive for greatness in their professional lives.” Fuentes, a 2012 graduate of the school, certainly fits the description, rising quickly through the ranks of WWE as a backstage reporter on NXT and SmackDown LIVE.
Fuentes was nominated by a member of the UCF community, then confirmed by a panel of fellow alumni and university staff.
“The fact that I was selected speaks volumes to me,” Fuentes told WWE.com. “Because it wasn’t just one person’s opinion.”
The award is an honor for Fuentes, who made going to UCF a goal as a child.
“Growing up, I always wanted to go to UCF,” Fuentes told WWE.com. “I got good grades in school and got in, then served as Miss UCF in 2009. It’s a great university. I love giving back to the UCF community that helped me advance myself and grow into the person that I am today.”
Fuentes and the rest of the 2017 award recipients will be honored at a ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 26.
