Daniel Bryan explained SmackDown Live’s plan for new titles on ‘Talking Smack’

Daniel Bryan explains SmackDown Live's plan for new championships: Talking Smack, Aug. 2, 2016

On the premiere of Talking Smack, SmackDown Live GM Daniel Bryan addresses how Team Blue's championship strategy differs from Team Raw, courtesy of WWE Network.

The premiere episode of SmackDown Live’s post show, “Talking Smack,” exclusively on WWE Network every Tuesday night at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, did not disappoint.

While responding to a question about what the future may hold for tag team American Alpha on the night of their main roster debut, special guest and SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan addressed the growing speculation over a new championship for Team Blue in what Renee Young called a “healthy little dig at Raw.”

Acknowledging that the tag titles are not on SmackDown Live, the former World Champion made it clear that he and Commissioner Shane McMahon knew what they didn’t want to do.

“We don’t want to be like Raw,” explained Bryan, “… the day after … like ‘we need to have a World Title, so we’re gonna call it the Universal Title! The Galaxy Title! These guys are gonna be the Milky Way Tag Team Champions!’”  Inside his good-natured jesting, though, Bryan seemed to imply that there will be, in fact, new championships of some form at some point, but that SmackDown is going to be careful about how those titles will be introduced for one very important reason, namely the prominence of the prize itself.

“We are trying to formulate a good way to bring in the [new] titles,” Bryan continued, “and give people the opportunity to take these titles and prove they are they are the best team on SmackDown.”

So, perhaps it won’t be long before Team Blue will bring forth a tag team prize and, dare we say, a new Women’s Title? Don’t miss a second of SmackDown Live, every Tuesday night at 8/7 C on USA Network, to find out.
